Thelma was a significant influence in my academic life. Always listened and sympathetic to the challenges of ethnicity. She recommended me for my first role with Mason's Book Centre before graduation and I will always hold fond memories of Thelma and my years in Librarianship at BCAE.

Deepest sympathy to Sari and Thelma's family. Thelma was a strong and courageous leader and advocate for librarians in rural and isolated areas and librarians in Indonesia and developing countries. She will be remembered by her many former students all over Australia and overseas. She was also a supportive and encouraging head of department and her friendship will be dearly missed.
