I had the honor of knowing Ted in the late 70s
He is quite responsible for my career in the Audio business .I am having difficulty knowing where to start .His easy going nature coupled w his innate technical abilities were what drew me to Ted.
To b honest, i just found out of Teds passing and realized that i must say something to let his family know what their dad meant to me.
We both worked at Sound designs at Mediasound
with Wynn Schwartau. I was the new kid and was a perfect fit for this business. I spent countless hours days months at Ted's side working on everything from basic wiring of a new recording studio called Penny Lane to complex console modifications
making as Ted would call them English Consoles work properly.Thats the work side . Then there were the countless lunches at Dudly's whiling away the time in between work at Wyns house which was in plain sight of Sing Sing.Them there was the time Ted and I drove to Bobby Columbys home in New City.
These are just a smattering of the times i spent with
Ted . To say that Ted was a veteran in the electrioncs field is an understatement. He was a master thinker and implemter. His hippy dippy persona was what you saw whn u met him.But once you saw him
pulling on his beard and saying hmmm you knew you best pay close attention because what went on in his head was traveling at light speed and not to b taken lightly.
The last time i saw Ted was at an AES showin Ny
and he told me he was working to figure out how to get Video signal to travel on phone lines !
How prophetic was that statement. I have every reason to believe that Ted could have had a great part in changing the worlds method of communication. And the sad part for me was that it would b the last conversation i would ever have with my friend mentor and possibly the guy who brought us into the 21 Century in a big way.
I hope someone might read this (especially you Leah
or one of Teds other close relatives as i'm here to tell u you dad was one in a million God bless.
Sincerely Joe Salvatto [email protected]

One of the most remarkable persons I have ever met. We spent some time together in the early 1960's, centered on our mutual interest in sports cars, Lime Rock, Watkins Glen. I will always remember his generous spirit and uplifting enthusiasm. Condolences to family and the many friends.
