Theresa Collier Cody, WY
Theresa Ann 'Tami' Collier (née McGinty) died on the night of Thursday, July 9, 2015 at her home on the Upper South Fork, outside of Cody, WY. Tami was 56 years old.
Tami was born to Patricia Jean 'Pat' McGinty (née Seabeck) and Denton Eugene 'Gene' McGinty on February 28, 1959, in Great Falls, MT. She was the second of three children.
Tami grew up in Newport Beach, CA, where she enjoyed outdoor sports and a large extended family. In her early teens, Tami's family relocated to Fort Lauderdale, FL, where she played setter on her school's multi-year state championship volleyball team. She graduated from Cardinal Gibbons High School in 1977. Her team has since been inducted into the Cardinal Gibbons Hall of Fame.
Tami entered Florida Southern College on an athletic scholarship to play volleyball. In 1978, 1979, and 1980, her team competed in the National Championship Tournaments. Tami was an active member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. She graduated in 1981 with a bachelors of science in teaching, with an emphasis on physical education and special education.
Tami moved to Cody, Wyoming in 1982, and she quickly fell in love with the West. In Cody, Tami forged a strong network of close friends and remained active in the community. She helped administer the Cody Peewee Football group upon its foundation and organized private volleyball seminars. Tami and her husband, Barron were adamant supporters of the Buffalo Bill Center of the West. Tami was honored to serve on the West Park Hospital Foundation Board and the Southern Colorado American Diabetes board.
Tami and her husband, Barron, raised their two children, Laura and Barron V, between Cody and South Florida. Tami took great joy in raising her children and supporting their activities. Tami coached her daughter's middle school volleyball team and was an enthusiastic parent volunteer at her son's school. In Florida, Tami was active in her local chapter of the Garden Club of America, served on the boards of the Society of the Four Arts, the Society of the Four Arts Children's Library, and chaired a committee for the Rehabilitation Center For Children and Adults. Tami also served on the House Committee and the Junior Committee of the Bath and Tennis Club. Tami was an active and competitive member of the local women's tennis community.
The Rocky Mountain West was Tami's playground. Her passion for athletics was fulfilled by her love of skiing, hiking, mountain biking, and triathlons.
Tami was preceded in death by her parents, Patricia Jean 'Pat' McGinty and Denton Eugene 'Gene' McGinty; and her brother, Timothy Edwin 'Tim' McGinty.
She is survived by her husband, Barron G. Collier II; her daughter, Laura IU Collier; her son, Barron G. Collier V; and her brother, Michael Denton 'Mike' McGinty. She also leaves her beloved dog, Bentley, and many close and loving friendships.
A celebration of life is to be held at 6:00 p.m. on the evening of August 9th at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West. Those who cared for Tami are invited to attend and share in remembering Tami's life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Tami's name to the Buffalo Bill Center of the West in support of a children's play area, to be named in her honor.

T2...I've been trying to write an entry in your guest book for over a week. It has been very difficult because for myself, as well as the rest of your extended AOTT sisters and family , we still can not grasp the fact that you are gone from our lives. So very sad because you had so much more to give to this world and to your husband, children and friends. We do not want to say goodbye and yet we have to. I take some comfort in the fact that you had to know how much you were loved by your friends and family. I also believe that the love you left behind will carry on because you gave your heart and soul to all that knew you. I know your world is full of angels now and that you're safe and sound...but I still do not want to say goodbye. What I will say for now is good night...you are beautiful and I love you. MJ

Tami was my room mate our senior year of college and we both graduated from FSC with degrees in Physical Education. Tami helped me through that final year with a lot of laughter and fun. I hadn't seen her since graduation, until last year ? when she returned to Lakeland to honor a retiring teacher. What a gift it was to see her and spend some time. We had hoped to meet up out West, as I have grown to love it as well. We talked about our kids, and I was impressed with Tami's insight. We have lost a special friend, a special person. May her family find comfort. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

What an honor it was to know you and what a blessing you have been in my life! As a college roommate and sorority sister you taught me how to have fun and enjoy life to the fullest. Your smile and your laugh were infectious! After school, I'll never forget the hysterical times we had skiing in Jackson Hole when you moved and worked out West. As a friend I still remember exactly where I was when reading the letter from you about the man you were falling in love with. Your bachelorette party was like none other, and I can still see the pristine day on the ranch when you got married and how perfect and beautiful everything was until that silly bee started attacking our bouquets, moving from one bridesmaid to the next. I think we all kept our composures quite well. As moms I loved our conversations about our kids and all of their trials and accomplishments. You were such a hands on, loving mother, and I respected you so much for that. Can't say I know many mothers who would wake up at 5:30 am so they could work out before their kids did in order to direct your full attention to them for the rest of the day. As a friend I'll never ever forget the fun we had on our awesome fifty-something adventures. You broadened my horizons and had me trying things I would never have done. You are the real deal, Tami, and I will hold these memories forever. Rest in Peace now with your beautiful family in heaven because you will live in the hearts of your friends, family and relatives here forever.

I have always felt privileged to have met Tami and her lovely family.
We shared many mornings of early morning exercise together and spending time with her was a pleasure.
She is missed and my thoughts are with her family.

Tami was my oldest and best friend, a second sister. We have shared so many great times together starting on 57th Court, Lauderdale and CGH; Stone Harbor, NJ; Disney with Murphy's; Rosemont, PA; NY; weddings; raising family and Godmother to Thomas; Cody and much more. She was a true friend, mother, wife and Aunt. She will always be in my heart. I send my heart felt condolences to the Collier and McGinty families, we truly have been blessed to have loved and been loved by Tami.
