Theresa Hughes Obituary
Born on October 2, 1932, in Chepstow, Wales, Theresa's life journey began across the Atlantic in a small town rich with history and charm. It was there that she met her beloved husband, Richard James Alfred Hughes. Their marriage spanned an extraordinary 68 years-a testament to enduring love and shared devotion.
Theresa was the cherished daughter of Kenneth and Elizabeth Maude Baker. She was also preceded in death by her sister-in-law Gaynor Baker and her devoted husband Richard. Her memory lives on through a large and loving family who will forever carry her spirit forward.
She is survived by her daughters Wendy McCoy and Dale Canty; sons-in-law Jim McCoy and Ted Canty; brother Kenneth Baker; nephews James and Gary Baker; grandchildren Meghan Lazarowicz (Jacob), Mallory Jones, James McGuckin, Dannille Janlili (Shayan), Morgan Canty, and Hayden Canty (Elizabeth); and great-grandchildren Alaynna, Aleyah, Isabella, Luka, Torin, Romee, Minty, and Rio.
Theresa had a kind soul and a pure heart that touched everyone around her. She was deeply loved by many throughout her life. An ardent animal lover, she rescued numerous dogs over the years-each one finding not just shelter but unconditional love in her care.
A funeral service to honor Theresa's life was held on August 28, 2025, in Taylor, Michigan.
May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
