Theresa Long Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 13, 2022.
Theresa Morian Long, age 93, of Littleton, Colo., passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2022 at Littleton Adventist Hospital in Littleton. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pa. on May 25, 1929, the daughter of Albert J. Morian and Theresa Rebholz Morian.

Theresa grew up in Pittsburgh and Mount Lebanon, Pa., and graduated from Mount Lebanon High School in 1948. She relocated to Washington, D.C. in 1951 and there met Kenneth R. Long, who she married on Sept. 8th of that year. After a few months they moved to Clarksburg, W.Va., and in 1957 they moved again, this time to Huber Heights, Oh., where they raised their family. She worked for the Huber Heights City Schools for 18 years, mostly as an elementary school librarian, retiring in 1989.

In 2000, at the loss of her husband, she moved to Littleton, Colo. to be closer to her children. Here she lived the remainder of her years.

As a child, Theresa learned to sew on the fabric scraps her mother dropped onto the floor. She made her own clothing in high school, made clothing and costumes for her children, and did alterations for her neighbors. Later in life, she became an expert quilter. She was also a voracious reader, often finishing several books each week. She and Ken loved car travel, and with their kids, visited 48 states and most of Canada. She had a kind heart and a generous spirit. She was a friend to everyone, and a devoted mother and wife.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth R. Long, her sister, Germaine Morian, and her brothers, Ray (Marie) Morian and Albert (Marilyn) Morian. She is survived by her sons, Kenneth (Debra) Long, of Livingston, Tex., Geoffrey Long of Littleton, Colo., and Douglas (Debbie) Long of Bellbrook, Oh., and daughter, Pamela (Chris) Harbert of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; her brother, Donald Morian of Murrysville, Pa.; her grandchildren, Mallory (Devin) Howard, Robby Long, Chris Long, Tess Harbert, and Nate Harbert; two great-granddaughters, Eleanor and Adelaide; and many nieces and nephews.

Interment was on October 4, 2022 at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colo.

In lieu of flowers, the family would ask for donations to support research into Alzheimer's disease or to any other worthwhile charity.
