Tom was a classmate at Kenyon College and lived two doors down the hall in Watson Hall during our freshman year. I remember him as having an affable nature and ready wit. In the brief time I was acquainted with him he left a lasting impression as a companionable and generous soul. The account of his life´s work with engaging people with experiences and appreciation of "the great outdoors" amply confirms those impressions! My sincere condolences to his family and friends!

Such a good-natured and all-around good guy, I'm heartbroken.

I thought Tom was a lovely guy. I met him and Martha on a bike tour and felt an immediate kinship with them. Both visited us occasionally in NYC and I was hoping to lure them on another tour this summer. We old cyclists know we face risks but it's especially tough to learn that Tom's death was bike related. Hugs to all .

Tom was a funny, smart and kind soul. We had many fun times many years ago. I´m sad about his passing and wish peace and comfort to his entire family. God Bless.

I will miss Tom and his outlaw rebel kindness. We shared some space for a time, and he made an impression.

I knew Tom when he was a Hoedad in Oregon, planting trees. He would stay with me in Eugene, between planting gigs. He had a lovely soul. While we both grew up in Old Greenwich, I did not know him until he came to Oregon.
