Lisa, Miranda, and Ryan,

I owe Tom a profound debt of gratitude. His steady support and confidence stretched me to achieve more than I ever thought possible. He was a true maverick, the anti-Wall Street hero, who believed his job was to make his employees "really rich and really happy." When I made the inevitable investment mistake, he´d simply say, "You´re not as smart as you thought you were yesterday, and you´re not as dumb as you feel today."

Tom built a culture of camaraderie, excellence, and performance that was unlike anything else. As a Swiss investor told me just yesterday, Janus was the best investment firm in the world in the 1980s and 90s.

My heart goes out to you, with gratitude for sharing him with all of us who were shaped by his wisdom, generosity, and spirit.

Tom the legend.
May your spirit be at peace in heaven and may your legacy on earth reign for a 1000 + years and may Miranda, Ryan and Jeanne, be blessed through unseen ways from our Lord and Savior in your absence. You took me in as a daughter for the years I shared shelter under your roof. Your family became mine as I navigated the adolescent years while ski racing. I have fond memories of you from Vail, the family trip to Hawaii, the red Porsche, Miranda's wedding, your birthday party, and Iron Rose Ranch. Thank you for all the fond memories and experiences, not to mention the family that you built that became a foundation of my testimony and long-lasting friendship that has stood the test of time. May your legacy and love reign through the people, land and animals you have caretaken through your legacy. May your spirit RIP until we meet again...love you Tom!

I am deeply grateful to Tom for welcoming me into the Janus family during the mid 1980s. Tom was unconventional, a true maverick in the investment world. Despite his success, he remained grounded in his passions-unafraid to go completely off the grid when he needed to recharge. In doing so, he taught me that balance is a necessity, not a luxury. Tom built more than a business; he built a legacy that enriched lives. My condolences to your family, Tom. You were an inspiration to all who knew you.

Tom will be forever known as someone who created a culture at work that included everybody and made work fun. The '90s were crazy and those of us who worked at Janus worked a lot of overtime, but felt like we were part of a family. I will never forget one New Year's Eve in the mid '90s where Tom showed up at 11:00 p.m., handed $100 bills out to everybody who was diligently working to get everything that came in that day processed, thanked us all for making the business a success and told us to go out and have a great New Year's Eve. He could have been anywhere in the world celebrating New Year's Eve, but he chose to be there with us! Tom Bailey will be fondly remembered by many.

I had the distinct pleasure and honor of working for Tom at Janus. He was truly one of a kind in every way imaginable. He was fiercely loyal to all of the employees and created the environment that made the business as successful as it became. There will never be another "Bailey".

My dad Richard Schultz is 92 years old and lived in Denver with Tom in 1962. He has great stories about their cool bachelor pad with an indoor swimming pool. They would go skiing up in Aspen for $5 and hit the Red Onion for live music. They skied on wooden skis and drank wine from their Boda bags on the slopes. My dad has fond memories of their time together. May Tom rest in peace.

From one of our many trail rides....so many great horse adventures with Tom. To say he was one of a kind is an understatement. He left me with so many wonderful memories and I can't believe he is gone. Miranda and Ryan and Lisa and Jeanne I am so so sorry....and

Lisa, Miranda, Ryan, and the entire family. I loved Tom.

He was always kind to me personally and loyal to me in our work together. We spent 8-10 years together in various capacities with the cutting horses.

I know you miss him dearly, as do my husband, Tom, and I. Much love to you all, and we will never forget Tom - and will always think of him with endearment.
