Thomas C. Baker DAMASCUS, Va. Thomas C. Baker, age 68, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, at his residence. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio and had lived in Cincinnati for 27 years prior to moving to Damascus in 1991. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era and was a member of the American Legion Post No. 135 in Damascus. He was a retired electrician from General Motors in Fairfield, Ohio. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Baker; one son, Thomas Todd Baker of Damascus; one sister, Dolly Winkler of Hamilton; one brother, Charles Baker of Fairfield; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, in the Riverview Chapel at Garrett Funeral Home with Mr. Kenneth Couch Jr., minister, officiating. Military honor rites will be conducted by the Highlands Veterans Honor Guard and the Virginia National Guard Honor Guard. The family will gather and fellowship with friends immediately following the funeral service Sunday at the funeral home until 3:30 p.m. A private entombment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum in Damascus. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be sent to the American Legion Post No. 135, P.O. Box 860, Damascus, VA 24236.
