Thomas Ballard Obituary
ROCKBRIDGE: Thomas L. Ballard, 73, Man Among Men, of Rockbridge, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Hocking Valley Community Hospital in Logan.
He was born January 14, 1940 in Antigo, Wisconsin, and was raised in McArthur, son of the late John and Verda Buetow Ballard.
Tom was married to Debbie Campbell Ballard, who survives.
He retired from Diamond Power Company in Lancaster and was an Army Veteran. Tom was a member of the Logan Moose Lodge, a member of the Logan Eagles and a member of Anglers Paradise in Sugar Grove.
Tom is survived by his son, Thomas L. Ballard II of Palm City, Florida; daughter, Trisha L. Ballard of Logan; grandchildren, Rob M. (Top Dog) Rose, Nichole Ballard and Kristina A. Powell; five great grandchildren; a brother, Bob (Joan) Ballard of Westerville; sisters, Mona Karns of Creola, Bonnie Brewer of Jacksonville, Florida and Virginia Sikorski of McArthur; sister-in-law, Betty Ballard and brother-in-law, Steve Leonard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Bob and Michael Ballard and sister, Julie Leonard.
Funeral services will be held 10 A.M., Wednesday, January 8, 2014 in the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan. Interment will be in Knollwood Cemetery, Logan. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 6-8 P.M. where Moose Lodge services will be held at 7:30 P.M.

To Toms' family, I so sorry to hear of Tom's passing. We worked a lot of years at Diamond. No matter what the day brought Tom could always make the day and get us to laugh. What a shock. God bless your family and give you strength. May you REST IN PEACE TOM.

Debbie, family and friends,

Debbie and family, I was on the Hide-A-Way Hills Bowling league with Tom and on his team two years ago. He kept our team laughing. I will always remember "the strut" on the way back from getting doubles and turkeys. He would tell me of the special meals he would cook for your dinner after you worked all day. We will miss his home made noodles and chicken that he always brought to our Christmas dinners at the alley. He was probably the only guy who didn't tell his wife to make a dish, lol. Who knew that would be the last time we would see our friend? I miss him already. You will be in my prayers.

My first memory of him was listening to Tom play a cheap guitar at the P&D in Sugar Grove. He sang and played with a passion that had the crowd loving every song. That was 30 years ago and sadly, I hadn't seen him since then, but I never forgot that wonderful night. A Man Among Men, yes that's true.
