Dear John, Ann, and Samuel,
Our family is beyond heavy hearted to hear of the loss of your precious Thomas. We have such fond memories of the boys in scouts, especially as our boys shared their name. Thomas was such an incredibly kind and wise young man. Thoughtful, considerate and fun to be with. Always polite with a gentle heart. Our son, Thomas, valued their friendship and is missing him dearly. Ann, I so loved our time together as scout moms and my prayers are with you always. Know that your son made such a great impact on others, as my son will attest. You and John raised an amazing son that will be dearly missed but remembered fondly by all. Praying the presence of our Heavenly Father brings you comfort.
Blessings,
The Trout Family

Please accept my family's deepest condolences for your loss. I never had the pleasure of meeting your family directly, or Thomas (I'm Will Casey's sister so connected through Marcia), but when I heard the news it was so heartbreaking. Know that even in the midst of COVID, in this seemingly disconnected existence we're living, there is a world of strangers and distant connections who want to extend to you the warmest hug to try to help ease the pain. Thinking of you every day.

My thoughts and prayers are with Thomas and his family at this time. While I did not know Thomas well, I did get to spend two weeks with the young man as apart of the Troop 601 high adventure high in New Mexico in 2017. Thomas was a key contributor to our success that week without complaint, and while our conversations were not always long, they always seemed to finish with a smile. My most vivid memory was the epic hike up Mt. Baldy to the highest elevation on the trip. As we approached the top, and we were all stopping to desperately catch our breath, I look up and there was Thomas, on one final mad dash ascent to the top leaving us in his dust. I will cherish that memory forever.

Our deepest condolences go out to all of Thomas’ family and friends. Our family will always remember Thomas as a warm young Scout, ready to help the new young Troop members as they crossed over from Pack 601 in 2018-19. He was someone the boys looked up to and respected. Our son Andrés was also impressed by Thomas’ musical skills from getting a chance to do a concert when the middle school played at the High School. We pray that you find healing in the great memories you have of him as well.
In this time of grievance we would like to share a quote that crossed our path: “Grief never ends, but it changes. It’s a passage, not a place to stay. Grief is not a sign of weakness, nor lack of faith- it is the price of love.” -Unknown author.

To John, Ann, and Sam,
I've known Thomas ever since he joined Troop 601 in 2014. I loved how quick-witted he was; he could always find a way to make me laugh. And on top of his profound kindness, he always showed a eagerness to learn and serve. Three years later in 2017, the troop sent eight scouts and three adults to the high-adventure camp 'Philmont', in Cimarron, New Mexico. It was a 100 mile endeavor in the middle of summer, and the memories created there were nothing short of treasures. Thomas and I were two of the eleven that went, and it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that we left Philmont as brothers.
From everyone in my family, we are deeply sorry for your loss and we have you in our thoughts, hearts, and prayers.

When Thomas entered the AP Chemistry classroom this year he happened to be assigned to the same back tables he used to sit during Flex last year. I first met Thomas because of Hunter and Preston. They ate in my classroom during Flex/Lunch noticing me running around trying to keep the room organized and calm while I bounced between all of the students in the room busy doing accomplishing what they needed to. I was adamant about students cleaning their space after lunch and Thomas was the consistent one. He reminded others to push in their chairs and he always wiped and cleaned the tables even when others ran off to get to their next Flex destination before they could clean their own.
Mr. and Mrs. Bedell, thank you for raising such a patient and kind young man. Thomas will always be remembered. My prayers are with you all.

Dear John, Ann, and Samuel, I am so sorry for your loss. While I know that Thomas is now at peace, his sudden departure from this world has left a hole in your hearts, and your overall lives. Try to fill that hole with your fondest memories, joyful occasions, proudest moments and shared experiences with your family. Lean on each other, lean on your friends and family. Express yourselves, express your grief, your fear, your resentment - let it out. We are here to support you through this difficult time and will be here when you become yourselves again. Your memories of Thomas will keep him with your forever and though your sadness will never abate - you will look upon those memories with love and happiness - shedding a tear from the hole that never fills but does heal.
John - I know that all of your colleagues at Balchem - and your extended family at Odyssey are thinking of you and your family and send sincere and fond condolences. Should you need anything during this troubled time, do not hesitate to contact me - or any of us - any time.
Fondly, and with a tear rolling down my cheek, your friend, Kevin
