Thomas Brannick Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 13, 2024.
Thomas J. Brannick of West Dover, Vermont passed away in his home on Wednesday January 3rd, 2024. He is survived by his children Shane & Madison Brannick and his brother Michael Brannick along with many other dear family members and friends.

Tommy was born on March 24th, 1968, to Thomas and Joan Brannick of Cliffside Park, NJ. His family then moved to Lanoka Harbor, NJ and set roots. He spent his early years playing youth hockey as goal tender and moved on to play for the Oswego Lakers and UMass Dartmouth in his college years. In his adult years he played regularly in Men's Hockey league and had the opportunity to practice and play in a game for the Boardwalk Bullies.

Tommy's chosen career led him to a position as Host at Claridge Casino in Atlantic City where he spent many successful years, he was then promoted to Executive of Player Development at Bally's continuing his career.

Tommy's last years were spent in Vermont, the place he loved most. This is where he once enjoyed his down time vacationing with his family and had now become his "place of peace" in his final years.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 11:00am at Church of St. Pius X 300 Lacey Road, Forked River, NJ 08731.

Those we love don't go away;

They walk beside us every day.

Unseen, unheard but always near.

Still loved, still missed, and very dear.

Wishing us hope in the midst of sorrow,

Offering comfort in the midst of pain, both today and tomorrow.

I knew Tom as a young hockey player in the 1980's. We reconnected a few years ago and continued to stay in touch through messages and phone calls. We last spoke on New Years Eve, a few days before he unexpectedly passed away. Tom was a kind and gentle man, devoted to his children Shane & Madison whom he adored. Tom was respectful and humbled by those who helped him through some difficult times. I'll miss our conversations. Rest in peace, friend.

"Don't be dismayed at good-byes. A farewell is necessary before you can meet again. And meeting again, after moments or lifetimes, is certain for those who are friends." -Richard Bach

I chose these two photos from the dozens Tom shared with me. In the first, he's got what appears to be a half-smile with his two kids. I asked Tom why he, and often Shane, didn't smile for photos. He told me it was a family trait. The other is from December 2023 when Tom was reunited with his children. While you won't see a smile on his face, I'm certain his heart was bursting with joy that day... as was mine after seeing it.

I am really at a loss for words hearing of Tommy´s passing. I was lucky to have met him and thankful for the memories we shared. He was the kindest, most genuine soul. Thinking of Mike, Shane, and Madison and the entire Brannick family at this most difficult time.
