Thomas Campion Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 17, 2023.
Tom was born in Oakland, CA to Janet and Edward Campion on January 11, 1951 and died suddenly at home in Long Beach, CA on September 8, 2023. He grew up in San Francisco attending St. Agnes grammar and St Ignatius high schools and graduated from New College in Sarasota, FL. He loved airplanes and flying, and worked and retired from Delta Airlines as gate support, trainer of new gate employees, and charter flights coordinator. With flying privileges as a Delta employee and retiree, he visited many domestic and international sites. He was also a self taught and accomplished gourmet cook. His presentation of meals was as delectable as the taste. Tom is survived by his husband Harry Seth George, his sister Susan Campion and his beloved cat Kuma. He was loved and will be missed by his family and many friends. There will be a celebration of his life at a later date.

Tom and I are second cousins. Because our Dads shared the same birthday, we often got together to celebrate their special day or just to enjoy each other's company. After we got older and more consumed with our own activities, the treks between San Francisco and Stockton became much less frequent. However, we did reconnect again with Tom, his sister Sue, and his Mom Janet a few years ago. We enjoyed several lunches all together talking about "the good old days". Tom was always full of great stories and loved to share his passion for cooking. I will miss those afternoon lunches. Sharon(Rossi) and Jim Justeson
