This Presbyterian pastor had an amazing trip to Israel and Palestine in 1995, a pilgrimage sponsored AND ACCOMPANIED BY Tom and Ann Cousins through Columbia Seminary. I enjoyed many conversations with them during that time, including hearing about Tom´s vision for a place that meant nothing to me at the time ... East Lake. Beyond that trip, Tom´s
faithful generosity has long inspired me. What an example of a life of faith. Well done, good and faithful servant. - Rev. Wendy McCormick, Columbus, Ohio

Tom Cousins was one of the finest men I ever had the privilege to know. My Dad, JC Shaw, and Tom were great friends. Mr. Cousins served on our Board (Shaw Industries) for many years and could be counted on for wise and honest advise. He and Dad teamed up on many charitable projects, including Columbia Seminary and other Presbyterian endeavors. I was fortunate to have known him and consider him one of the finest, smartest, most sincere and most giving visionary men I have ever met. What he did at East Lake, that community and Drew Charter School was nothing short of a miracle. "Well done good and faithful servant." Julius Shaw

I was privileged to be one of the many pastors that Tom and Ann sent to the Holy Lands to invest in our ministries- and even more blessed that Tom and Ann accompanied our group. The ripple effects of my trip, and of countless trips like mine, have paid spiritual dividends in the lives of so many congregations and people that will never be accounted this side of heaven. Aside from the lessons learned at all the digs and holy sites visited on the trip, I have always treasured the conversations we shared and especially the example he set. Tom's obituary spoke of him being humble and compassionate. From what I saw, I am sure that our Lord will reward him greatly for the way that Tom served and followed His example. May he receive all that he shared, good measure, pressed down, shaken together and overflowing may it be given to him!
With condolences to Ann,
Rev. Stuart Fletcher

I had the privilege of meeting Tom several times and quickly knew of his Christian faith and his even deeper personal relationship with Jesus Christ in all that drove him along with his kind and humble spirit to others.
Tom made an impact and significant difference to others and certainly to our community at large. Rest in Peace and Gods embracing love now for all eternity...

Thomas Cousins was the friend and owner of the Atlanta Flames Hockey Team .He had the Omni built to promote Hockey in the South. He was not just concerned with the growth of the sport but he encouraged the spiritual growth of his players by giving each player a Bible in which he wrote an individual testimony of how he had been challenged to read the Bible daily and the huge difference it had made personally in his life.
Not only did he exemplify the concern and care of his players but of their families and also by visiting them in hospitals and
by inquiring after their recovery from injury or health challenges.
Mr. Cousins mirrored a life of Christian generosity and love throughout the Atlanta area and all over the South and with his wife Ann, changed life for so many through his vision and work.

I had the privilege of meeting Mr Cousins years ago, I was the first to install DSL Internet in his home. While there I was met with warm welcome and had the opportunity to converse with him and his wife on current events. I will always remember the first time we met. I have seen him in passing years later and he still remembered who I was. He was a great man who will be truly missed. My condolences to Mrs Ann and the Cousins Family

I send my best wishes to the family. While I knew Ann, Lillian, Grady, Rachel and Ren better than Tom, he was always in the background of visits and conversations. A powerful man and leader who leaves loving family members to continue the good work of the Cousins each in their own way.

I had the good fortune to meet Mr. Cousins on a number of occasions as an architect with TVS. My best memory was when I the opportunity to make a design presentation to him. I had some great coaching by one of his senior development partners. Mr. Cousins approved my design! Whew!

Thank you, Mr. Cousins, for all you have done for our great city of Atlanta and the many opportunities for the architecture community to thrive with you and your company.

Tom Cousins was an important influence in the lives of many including mine. His ideas were big and bold. He gave limited advice but asked probing questions that led me to consider a different perspective and other options. His legacy lives in Atlanta in more ways than be counted.

I had the pleasure of working with Tom for a couple of years - 1956-58. Ann and Tom attended my and Ozzie´s wedding in 1957. I have very fond memories of both of you - and still have the beautiful silver pitcher you gave us. God Bless!

Tom Cousins was a lovely man, a wonderful human being. He did so much for so many. He truly cared about his community. My imagination believes that Vernon had quite a crowd waiting to welcome him as he arrived in Heaven. Thank you Mr Cousins. You will be missed.

I had the honor of maintaining Mr. Cousin´s personal plantation golf course for a couple of years in Albany before he sold it to Ted Turner. He always treated me so well. He introduced me to the Presbyterian church in our community and I later became a member there. He´d always ask me how "my" golf course was looking? He wanted to know my opinion and that was special to me. He was so personal to me and my wife. He treated us like family and gave us personalized gifts from his heart for Christmas. He truly was a gentleman and someone I´ve always looked up to. His kindness allowed for me to meet lots of special people. I´m super thankful that he took a chance with me and gave me a great opportunity to be the superintendent on his beloved course. I´m sure his rewards in heaven will be great because he lived a special life here on Earth. May he rest in peace.
