I never know what to say to the family during a time like this. All I do know is that it is OK to cry because you are going to miss him, those are good tears and they show that you care. Later on when you all think of the good times that you shared with him, you will stop and smile, a little smile just for him.

Michael and Jeffrey,
I just heard the sad news. I have so many fond memories of your dad. I especially think of him on Christmas Eve. So much of my young life was spent with the Cristal boys. Thinking of it all brings a smile to my face.
Sending you much love and my deepest condolences.

Jeff and Michael, I am so sorry to hear the news about your dad. It brought back so many memories of living next door to you all on Lyman Circle for 25+ years, starting with Peter coming over the day we moved in to welcome us to the neighborhood and to tell us he would gladly help with anything we needed. I wish there were words to say to ease your pain but I am sure all your memories will bring you comfort during this difficult time and may his name be for a blessing.

Our condolences and prayers to the family in this time of grief. Hilarie and I have been neighbor's for the past 18 years and have nothing but wonderful things to say, we had multiple conversations across the driveway and he was always quick with a joke or an inquiry about the kids. He was a kind soul and we will miss waving as he was in his way out and about. As always we are here if you need anything at all.

I met Mr. Cristal close to forty years ago. I was a driver to his friend, and business associate ( PBL ). And from day one he was the nicest, and warmest man you would ever meet. Whenever I was working, and he was in attendance of the function that he knew I was somewhere close by, my name would always come up to my bosses. He always asked about me, and made sure to always give a handshake, and later in our relationship a big hug.
I love that when he saw me, it was never about my status, he just cared about how I was doing. And would always, say is the boss taking good care of you. My reply was always the same! Of course.
A truly genuine person. He will be truly missed.
To the whole family, my condolences, and thank you for letting him be part of my life.

When we talk of The Greatest Generation we're talking about Tom Cristal. When we refer to a "swell" guy, that was Tom. When we think about a man who never troubled you with his tragedies, but always looked to comfort you about yours, we're thinking about Tom. He and I were polar opposites politically, but I considered him a dear friend and loved being with him. I officiated at his marriage to Sondra and basked in their love and the love of the children for them and for one another. I was proud to call him my friend.

Dear Cristals and Lovemans,

Alison and I were saddened by this news and want to express our most sincere condolences. I personally have such wonderful memories of Tom and know he brought a lot of laughter to my father for so many years. I often played doubles at Oakwood with him as a teenager and to this day, remember how he carried himself as such a gentleman, even in the heat of competition on the court. He just seemed to have fun ALL the time. He was an incredible family man.

His authentic smile was wonderful. His warmth was recognized by the way he went out of his way to express an interest in the progress of the lives of my siblings and me.

Our prayers go out to everyone.

Warmest regards,
Bob
