Dear Darst Family,

I moved to Houston in 1984 and one of my early assignments at KHOU-TV was to visit with a fella named Paul Darst at the Astrodome. Upon walking in, everyone could see my awe at the size of "The Dome" and Paul was gracious enough to answer every question I had. I remember us walking together down a HUGE tunnel passageway when he turned and smiled and told me it was a cold air return for the massive air conditioning system. While it was an architectural adventure I'll always remember, it was Paul's warm smile and generous welcoming attitude that left an impression on this "new Houstonian". And what I found later was that I had met someone in the local broadcast community who was liked and respected by all. It's impossible to find anyone with a negative opinion of Paul. Period. Why is that? After reading about his Dad it's easy to see he was raised in a loving home with terrific parents and that humor and hard work were considered equally important. I'm sure Mr. Darst will be missed by many and while I never actually met him I somehow feel like I may have known at least a part of him since 1984.

Dear Darst Family,

I had the priviledge of knowing your father six years ago when he was a frequent and favorite customer of ours at the resale shop. He would light up the store with his wit and stories and we all looked forward to his visits. He was a man who really lived his faith by caring about others and he touched the lives of all who met him. May your wonderful memories of him bring you comfort and ease your sorrow.

Dear Miriam - I know that your father was a very special man and I will always remember the love you showed when speaking of your parents and siblings. I'm sure that there is great joy in Heaven to have your father Home and pray God will comfort you and yours in this time of loss.

My deepest sympathy to all of the Darst family. I had the honor to have met your father through another great man Dr.Gene Quest. Along with Gene ,I will miss the spirited youth Tom Darst SR. always had. I loved listening to the two men chat whenever Gene was in town visiting your father. The two men could spin a story and make you feel alive:We will both miss him.

I hardly knew your Dad, but the conversations I did have with him were always enjoyable. The first time I met him, I was fishing in the old sand pits and ran into him. He told me that he would fish there every day. What a life!! May God have mercy on him and let Perpetual Light shine upon Him.
