April 16, 1953 - June 28, 2015
Tom succumbed to his long battle with cancer on Sunday, June 28, 2015, in Squamish BC with his loving family by his side. He was born to Peter and Doris de Wolf in Chilliwack BC, the fourth of six children. He proudly followed in his father's and grandfather's footsteps becoming a Civil Engineer at UBC with the graduating class of 1975. He later returned to UBC to pursue his masters in engineering. Besides his many professional accomplishments over his 40 year career, Tom was particularly proud of his volunteer work in the community, most notably the many years he served as president of the Richmond minor football league. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing golf and walks with his dogs. For everyone who knew him and loved him, he will be remembered by living his life with integrity as his motto was "to always be fair to everyone you deal with." Tom is survived by his wife Gizella, his two sons Steve and Eric, his daughter-in-law Sonya and his granddaughter Charleigh. His passing has left a fathomless hole in the lives of many and he will be dearly missed, particularly on Sundays afternoons in the fall when his Football team, the Chargers, are playing. A Celebration of Tom's Life will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2015 at 3 p.m. at Furry Creek golf course. Throughout Tom's life he always had animals as pets within his home.
