Thomas Dove Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 9, 2025.
Thomas Franklin Dove was born August 28, 1941 in Monroe, Louisiana to Minnie and Thomas Dove. He spent most of his childhood in Holly Ridge, LA before moving to the Shreveport-Bossier City area. Thomas worked for Netherton Construction company as a motor grader operator for most of his adult life. Marrying his best friend, Geneva Adams, on March 1, 1963 and spent 45 years as husband and wife.

Thomas, lovingly called "Fat Boy" by most, was a wonderful father and grandfather that never met a stranger. He loved working in his garden and would often recruit the help of his grandkids to lend a hand. He would sit with his kids and grandkids on the front porch shelling purple hull peas until their fingers turned colors. He also loved growing sugar cane and would cut a few pieces off for them all to chew on. His tractor was his favorite way to get around the yard and he would allow anyone to climb up and take the reins. After a long day's work, he would treat his grandchildren to homemade ice cream or one of the many popsicles he would have stocked in the deep freezer. In the back of the property, there was a large catfish pond that he built himself. Thomas loved taking the grandkids out to feed the catfish and would get excited to introduce any new great grandkids to the tradition. The immense love that he showed his wife and family left a lasting impression, teaching us all of a true example of what love and family should be.

On January 25, 2025, Thomas left this Earth to be reunited with the love of his life, Geneva Dove who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his younger brother, Wilburn Dove. Thomas was laid to rest at Stevenson Cemetery in Holly Ridge, Louisiana.

Those left to carry on his memories are his sons, Thomas C. Dove, Michel W. Dove and wife Brenda, and Timothy A. Dove Sr. and wife Nikki. Daughter-in-law Pam Dove, ten grandchildren: Amber, Jenifer, Mallory, Justin, Dustin, Thomas, Josh, Tabitha, Tad, Hunter and seventeen great-grandchildren. His brother, Charles E. Dove and wife Connie, sister-in-law, Dorothy Dove along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Tad Dove, John Dove, Justin Dove, Dustin Dove, Josh Dove, and Randy Dove.
