In 1956 I met Tom at Maryville College for the first time. We both joined the Alpha Sigma Fraternity and became lifelong brothers.
In my junior year we became roommates and shared everyday of college for the next 2 years. In September of 1956 we went to the golf course to check out the new freshman girls who wanted to be cheerleaders and were practicing. That day both of us met our wives to be. They asked us to help them with lifts and encouraged us later to try out for cheerleading with them. Tom and I both made the team, but Faye and Dee did not much to their dismay.
I was Tom and Dee's Bestman in their wedding in June 1960 and he was supposed to be mine in December 30, 1960. But they had a bad car accident near Knoxville, Tn on a snowy day and ended up in the hospital. Over the past 63 years we would visit together at college reunions and visited at thanksgiving before we had children.
I just learned this week that Tom had passed away from a college friend and my heart was broken and I was so sorry that I was unable to attend his funeral and pay my regards to Dee and His family. We were both married to our college sweethearts for 63 years this year. I will cherish his memory for the rest of my days and some day we will see each other again in Heaven.

Met Tom and Dee through "KT Week". I am from Ohio and we had a lot to talk about - especially sports. He talked about his time serving as an usher at Reds games and his being graced with singing our National Anthem once.
Both were great to talk with during the week, especially at "The Pharmacy".
He was always covered in dirt and I was covered in sawdust.
Sincere condolences to the Eberhard family. Steve Zilles

I'll always remember the wonderful times I spent with my parents and family at Tommy and Dee's house. I can't express how loving and caring he always was to all family members. He left a wonderful legacy in his family and was a mentor in community service. One humorous story I'm sure he would remember was about one day when I was in high school and had missed my bus. I walked over to their house from the high school unannounced to visit and to call my dad. They were surprised to see me at their door, but without question welcomed the unexpected visit. It was wonderful and we spoke about that memory quite a few times over the years.
