Thomas Henry Featherstone

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Tom Featherstone. Tom is survived by his son Steve Featherstone. Tom Featherstone was a dedicated primary teacher in Hamilton for over 30 years at Peace Memorial School, Roxborough Park School and at Dr. J. E. Davey School. Mr. Featherstone was able to develop a great rapport with both students and parents. He possessed a passion for teaching younger grades and often taught split classes of grades 2 and 3. Tom Featherstone was a self-proclaimed East Hamilton Lawn Dart champion and a big sports fan. He spent most of his free time cheering for his favorite teams including the Chicago Blackhawks, Hamilton Tiger Cats, Philadelphia Eagles and of course his beloved Detroit Tigers. In his 70th year Tom Featherstone was being treated for Cancer at the Juravinski Cancer Centre, and at St Josephs Hospital. After a serious stroke Tom spent a short stay at the General Hospital before being transferred to St. Peters Palliative Care Hospital. His friends and family would like to thank the dedicated health care professionals who were treating Tom, and making his last few days as comfortable as possible. The family would be honored if donations in his tribute were made to the Hamilton Burlington SPCA. No funerals or service are planned at this time.
