It is with heart felt sadness to learn of Tom´s passing. Many years ago, Tom, Tim and I worked at Mission Hills Country Club. His mother, Pauline and my mom Kay also worked there. Tom put many hours working in the accounting office. I remember our lunch hour and the funny jokes he shared with us. He had the gift of entertaining us and putting a smile on our faces. He left the club after passing the bar exam. We lost touch with him as what happens when we go on with our lives. It was a joy knowing him and his wonderful family.

Tom and I met in 8th grade and became fast friends for life.
At Westport, we shared many classes, most importantly ROTC, band and Stage Band. Tom was superb piano player in Stage Band and the smaller ensemble we formed with Anthony Swopes, Joe Straws, John Castro, Diane Pedersen and others.
There were so many special moments and memories we shard in high school, our under graduate years at UMKC and for all the years since, including a brief time we shared and apartment in 1982,when I was relocating back to Kansas City. Tom helped me and Michelle with that move.
One of my lasting memories of Tom is when I was in hospital diagnosed with diabetes in 1972.
I was very depressed, but Tom came to visit me.
His mother Pauline (who I remember very fondly) drove him to the old St. Joseph hospital (since we weren't old enough to drive yet).
He cheered me up and helped me through that ordeal, along with many other difficult times.
He was always there to help and support as a great friend.
Seeing Westport High School and going by Tom's old house off Westport road will always remind me of him.
We had talked about planning a visit to the remodeled Westport building posing as prospective tenants to get a tour of the building.
I am sorry we didn't get that done.
Although life took us in different directions and we did not have opportunity to see each other much over these many years, we always stayed in touch and exchanged birthday greetings every year.
August 21st this year and here after will be a sad reminder he is gone.
I am so very glad Tom retired from being a judge and was able to attend the planning meetings for our 50th year class reunion and that he and Kathy were at the reunion. So glad we had that last time together.
I have had many business associates, friends and acquaintances in my life, but I always thought of Tom as my best and closest friend.
God be with you Tom, I will miss you "Big Guy"
Your eternal friend
Frank
