Thomas Edward Fincher

Thomas Edward Fincher, 41, of Fort Worth, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on June 11, 2025.

Thomas was born on October 20, 1983, in Houston, Texas, the beloved son of Debbie and John Fincher. He spent his childhood in Austin, Texas, and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 2002. He went on to attend Texas Christian University, earning a degree in Business with an Emphasis in Leadership. During his time at TCU, Thomas joined the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, where he built deep and lasting friendships that would remain with him for the rest of his life.

While at TCU, Thomas met the love of his life, Laura Kay Friesen, of Lufkin, Texas. The two married on August 17, 2013, at the Hotel Del Coronado in California, beginning a life together built on faith, love, and deep friendship. Their shared love of Horned Frog sports was only one small part of the joyful life they created together.

Thomas was a devoted husband, proud and loving father to their two young sons, Gibson and Walter, and loyal friend to many. His boys were the absolute joy of his life, and he poured his heart into coaching, encouraging, and simply being present for them in every way-whether on the sidelines of a game or out fishing, camping, or playing a round of golf.

Professionally, Thomas served as Advance for the Governor of Texas' campaign, co-founded the popular TCU fan blog Spit Blood TCU, and launched Wash 'N Run in Austin with his twin brother, Emory. For the last 12 years, Thomas worked in the oil and gas industry out of Fort Worth.

Thomas had a quiet faith that guided every part of his life. His gentle spirit and deep love for others left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife, Laura Friesen Fincher; sons, Thomas Gibson Fincher and Walter Paris Fincher; his loving parents, Debbie and John Fincher; his best friend and brother John Emory Fincher and sister-in-law Lauren, and their children Vivian and Stroud; his devoted in-laws, Andrea and Gip Friesen; sister-in-law Leeanne and husband Hunter Haglund and their children Preston, William, Hannah and Patrick; sister-in-law, Lacey and husband Chase Luce and their children Griffin, Emma Jane and Watson. He is also survived by his adored aunts, Susan White, Lisa Stack, cousins Lindsey Coble, Sarah Corbitt, and Kay Thompson. He is also survived by a large extended family who loved him dearly.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Thomas will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 20, 2025, at First United Methodist Church, 800 W 5th St, Fort Worth, Texas. In honor of Thomas's vibrant spirit for TCU, guests are invited to wear purple or bright colors to the service.

In memory of Thomas and to support the future of Gibson and Walter, a college fund has been established by dear friends. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/gibson-and-walter-fincher-scholarship-fund

Thomas was a light in this world-steadfast, loving, and faithful. Though our hearts are broken, we rest in the hope of Christ and the promise that we will see him again.

Dear John, Debbie and family,

Words never fully convey what the heart feels for you all at this time, though I will try. I am grieved personally, because we have lost someone we dearly love, to our Lord and savior. I pray Jesus, whose love surpasses all understanding, reminds each of you how much Jesus loves you in this time, today and the days ahead. Cherish the memories and look forward to when we will be reunited with those we love.

In Christ, David Safely

John and Debbie,

My heart goes out to both of you and Thomas' wife and children.

While no words can ever fully express the sorrow of his loss, Thomas knew the unquestionable love of two devoted parents.

My prayers are with you.
