Thomas Edward Fischer passed away on February 11th, 2022 at the hospital in Zephyrhills, FL at the young age of 65 after a long battle with lung disease. He died in peace surrounded by his family at his side. He is survived by his daughters, Chelsea Fischer, Madison Fischer and Tara Archer and his previous wife of 27 years Cheryl Fischer along with Aunts and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary “Lou” and Edward Fischer.
Tom was born in Miami, Florida on July 9, 1956 to Lou and Edward Fischer. He went to Killian High School and graduated in 1974. He spent most of his life working in the boating industry which was his passion.
He moved to the Keys in the 1980’s and worked as a Sales Manager for Carabee Boat Sales. He later met his former wife, Cheryl and started his own boat business, Fischer Marine and moved back to Miami. In 1993 after Hurricane Andrew, Tom and his family moved to Fort Myers where he relocated his boat business and built a dealership off of Palm Beach Boulevard which was very successful for over 25 years. He earned the nickname of “Picky Tom” by his customers, employees and friends since he was very particular about the quality of the boats he sold. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Southwest Florida Marine Industries Association for many years.
He was also fondly known as Pappa Fish by many of his daughters’ friends. Tom loved boating, fishing, flying drones, Nascar, riding his Harley and his beloved dog Baxter who is now living with Cheryl and being well cared for. But most of all, Tom loved his beautiful daughters and will be watching over them proudly from up above.
Tom will be sadly missed by his family and many friends. There will be a Celebration of Life to honor him held on Saturday, March 26th at 11:00am at Grace Church located at 14036 Matanzas Drive Fort Myers, FL 33905 and a reception will follow at The Fischer Home at 3128 River Grove Cir, Fort Myers, FL 33905.
In lieu of flowers, we would appreciate donations being made in his name to
Big Dog Ranch Rescue where Baxter, his beloved dog, was adopted from.

I am so sorry to find out that Tom has passed. I got off Facebook and so we only texted or talked on the phone now and then. He hadn’t answered my last texts which was not like him, so I was trying to find him. Most of his family will not know that Tom and I were cousins. Ed and my Dad (Bobby Wicks) were first cousins. I will always remember Tom’s kindness and great sense of humor. I will always be thankful that he sent me some genealogy data that his Mom and Aunt Flora had worked on. I will miss hearing from him and our talks about days of long ago. Love to his family.
Sincerely,
Cousin Kathy from Texas

We were fortunate enough to meet Tom and Baxter while living in Fort Myers, FL. He always had a smile on his face, a welcome wave as we rode by on the golf cart (of course leaving a treat for Baxter). He loved decorating for holidays and always loved talking about his family. We're so sorry that he has passed. He was a very nice man.

Tom was one of my best friends in High School. No one was ever kinder to me. I have very fond memories of him. I always thought of him every now and then and was so sad to find that he had passed even though I have not seen him in many many years. You were a great guy and a great friend Tom.
