Thomas Fogarty Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 24, 2008.
July 22, 1946 - October 19, 2008
Tom was born in Los Angeles, California to William and Virginia Fogarty. In 1954, the family relocated to Lone Pine as Tom's father followed his trade as a machinist with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
Living in the Owens Valley provided the outdoor recreational opportunities that became lifelong passions for Tom. He became an avid fisherman, hunter, golfer, packer and rancher. He worked on several cattle ranches throughout California, Nevada and Arizona where he made lasting friendships.
He was a free spirited cowboy that eventually settled in Round Mountain, Nevada where he lived for the past several years. Tom put up his saddle and became a miner at the Round Mountain Gold Company five years ago. He became an active member of the "Sons of the American Legion" as a commander for the organization. Tom died of natural causes in his home in Round Mountain on Sunday night.
Tom is survived by his parents Bill and Virginia Fogarty of Lone Pine, California; son and daughter-in-law Gabe and Sarah Fogarty of Carson City, Nevada; sisters Bonnie Wenzel of Templeton and Kathy Streeper of Sacramento; and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Tom's life will be held at Bulpitt Park in Bishop, California on Saturday, October 25 at 2:00 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Tom's honor to the Sons of the American Legion, P.O. Box 1799, Round Mountain, NV. 89045 or to an organization of your choice.

I worked with Tom at Lida Livestock in the early 90s.
He was a good guy and a damn good cowboy.
