The when: soccer season, fall, 1973. The where: the Lawrenceville School. New Jersey. Home game. On a severely windy day, redoubtable outside fullback Tom Fowler, at midfield, smacked the ball sky-high on a defensive clearance. All 22 players on the field watched as the ball, carried by the wind, rocketed first to the sky, then, driven by the wind, toward the opponent's goal. The goalie, fearing the worst, ran from his own penalty kick marker to his goal line, flailing with one hand up, trying to stop Tom's shot. That defensive clearance turned into a 60 goal. Without a bounce. Nothing but net. RIP Tom. You are not forgotten.

Tom was a teammate on Lawtencevilles varsity lacrosse team that won the first state championship in L ville history. His speed was one of his gifts. As well as being a competitor and great teammate. Very sorry he was not with us when the school celebrated this -the fiftieth year anniversary of that 1974 season.

Tom and I spent four years together at Lawrenceville. We were in the same freshman dorm, Cromwell. Always a gentle man and a sweet soul. We reconnected at reunions every five years or so and it was always a joyous moment catching up on each other´s lives. May he be a blessed memory to his family and friends

So enjoyed my youthful years with Tom. Played alongside him in soccer at Buckley (though well behind him in prowess). Kind, thoughtful guy, and enjoyed reconnecting a bit at a reunion several years ago. Alex.

Liz and Mary - our condolences and all of our love. My first memory of cousin Tom is Childhood Christmas at the Grasselli House in Wilmington. Tom is sitting under the painting with his red tie. Even back then- Tom was a sharp dresser!

I was fortunate to meet Tom when he was a student at Lawrenceville and continue our friendship at Denison and beyond. What a kind, humorous and always well dressed guy he was. I will miss our occasional exchange of cartoons that made us both howl with laughter.

We met Tom Fowler earlier but my best memory of him as a child when most of the cousins all did a horseback riding trip through the gila wilderness in New Mexico. We must have been on horseback for a week or more living like cowboys and exploring Indian ruins. Tom was in heaven being a cowboy
