Thomas Friedel Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Apr. 13 to Apr. 14, 2006.
Thomas Steven Friedel, our beautiful loving daddy and beloved and cherished grand-father, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, March 18th, 2006, in his home in Slidell, Louisiana.
Thomas was born May 25th, 1951, to Dale and Helen Friedel. He was born and raised in Toledo and was a 1969 graduate of Woodward High School. He was an accomplished mechanic and a custom auto body repairman and painter. Our daddy spent the last 27 years of his life in Slidell, Louisiana and was well-known for his real sense of humor. He possessed such great wisdom about life, people, and world history that if put into words, could go on forever. Thomas enjoyed the outdoors and nature; some of his favorite past times were fishing, crawfish boils, searching the skies for eagles and just simply helping a friend. The greatest joys of his life, however, were his daughters and his four grandchildren. Thomas was preceded in death by his father, Dale W. Friedel and his mother, Helen M. Gardner.
Left to cherish and embrace his memory and his legacy of wisdom and love, his two daughters: Tammy (Steve) Waddell and Tracey (Matt) Pettit; grandchildren: Zaven S. and Ashlynn M. Waddell and Madison L. and Morgan L. Pettit; sisters: Dalen (George) Orphanos and Jamie Clayton; brother: Jason Peterson; as well as 3 nieces and 6 nephews. Thomas also leaves behind an extended family of friends in South Eastern Louisiana, St. Tammany Parish and South Western Mississippi, Pearl River County.
A service in Thomas's memory will be held on Saturday, April 15th, 2006, at 11:00 a.m., at Mount Zion Church of Holiness, 1501 Western Ave., Toledo, Ohio 43609. (Flowers can be received at the church Friday between 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday between 10 a.m.-2 p.m.). An interment ceremony will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
The family suggests that any contributions be made directly to Mount Zion Church of Holiness.
The Reeb Funeral Home, Sylvania, OH, assisted the family.
"Daddy, forever we will love you and we will always be with you." Your loving daughters, Tammy Lee and Tracey Lynn.

Tammy and Tracy:

What a beautiful obituary. I did not know your dad well but I knew how much he meant to you and your families and I know how much you will all miss him.

And until you see him once again:

May all your joys be as bright as the morning,

Your years of happiness as numerous as all the stars in the heavens, and

Your troubles but shadows that fade in the sunlight of love.

Love,

Theresa

Tam & Tracey,

Your Daddy was really cool. I will miss going out to smoke with him & our conversations about antennas & other items that came up missing around the trailer. Sorry that you both are in pain; a pain that never really goes away. One of the things that I still have a problem with is that I can't believe that I will spend the rest of my life without my mom. It feels like you're being cheated. Remember that he's safe with Jesus; keep your faith up & always look for signs of your Dad. He loved you both so much & we will all miss him! Love you both!

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
