Jim and Carol, you´ve written a beautiful tribute to your son, whose passing became known to me today as I was scanning the obituaries posted on my e-edition of the Detroit Free Press. Although decades have passed since we worked together on the picture desk at The Detroit News, Jim, I clearly remember your devotion to your family. Although now a parent of adult children myself, I can only imagine the great sorrow of losing a son who lived life so fully and shared so much of himself with others. It is that imagining that gives rise to my compassion, however, and regardless of whether you remember (or Carol knows) who I am, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy because I believe I saw Thomas´s obituary for that purpose. May God give you comfort and peace and as you grieve.
