The best six years of my working life were as Ted's employee. He was an inspirational and lovable employer, and I felt deeply, personally committed to his work. I am grieved to learn of his passing, and saddened that I found out so late.
Thank you, Ted, for all you taught and all you gave to the people in your life; for your sense of intelligence, fairness, and kindness; for your inspiring ability to make books in a world that keeps trying—and failing— to move beyond them. I am humbled to have worked for you, and to have been treated like family from my first day in the office. I had always hoped to exchange words with you again; sadly, I am too late, but I do hope that you understood how much you meant in my life.
My best to May, and to Ted's children. I know how proud you must be of him.

I was always inspired by Ted who had a long and successful
career in education and then went on, later in life,
to pursue his other passion...publishing.
It was always a pleasure to work with Ted who
clearly loved all aspects of the publishing process from concept to final product.
Ted cared deeply about each book he brought to life.
It seemed to me, for Ted, a book was more than just a book, it
was often a tangible record of some aspect of Canadian life to be honoured and shared...
dog training, native studies, art, social studies, health. Through Ted's vision
many new writers and editors were encouraged to investigate unexplored topics in education..
...he believed in fostering possibilities and was prepared to support and work with others to help bring form and shape
to their dreams.
Most respectfully,
Cheryl McLean

We are very sorry to hear of Ted's passing. We were very grateful to Ted for publishing our first book K9 Search & Rescue and so many after that first one. Ted was a man of less words but what he said was warm and meant well. Our condolences to all the family. Dr. Resi Gerritsen and Ruud Haak.

Ted helped so many of us publish books that were used in so many schools, universities, and private libraries. As a consequence, his legacy is a more literate and informed Canada. Thanks Ted. E. L. (Betty) Donaldson

I knew Ted from his work with Detselig. He was always leading the way, connecting authors and readers using every means at hand. When I sat on the board of the Book Publishers Association of Alberta with him, I admired his gentle and kind nature as well as his experience as a publisher. He always made sure everyone was heard.
My thoughts are with his family at this sad time.
