Dear Shirley and Tim,

We were so saddened by the news when we recently heard of Tom's passing and it opened a flood of memories....all good ones of our days as fellow driver ed instructors in Saskatoon. He was also my course instructor in Regina when I became a driver ed teacher in '69. Pam and I worked with Tom at the school board until he retired. He was a mentor and a great friend. We are now BC residents living at Okanagan Falls and winter in Florence , AZ. Our sympathy and best wishes to you.

Mr. Halstead was my driver ed instructor back in 1974 at Aden Bowman Collegiate. His guidance and expertise made me a better driver then and now. His family are in my thoughts and prayers.

I remember Mr. Halstead so well from many years ago taking drivers ed at Walter Murray. It was so obvious that he loved what he did and that he really cared about his students. He put us through our paces, making us figure out how to change a tire, handle a skid on an icey road, and praising us well when we succeeded, even when we figured out how to solve the problem when we went to see him at the lake and managed to back off the trail turning around and got hung up on a log in the ditch!! We figured it out, got back on the road and told him of our adventure and he had a good laugh over the incident with us! Too bad he didn't teach all of the drivers on the roads in Saskatoon - we could sure use his expertise here!! Many good wishes and my sympathy to his family.

He was my driver instructor in 1962 at STCI in Saskatoon. He was the best, and everyone's favorite.

Our deepest condolences to the Halstead family. Tom was a wonderful individual with a great sense of humour and is going to be deeply missed by everyone who knew him. He was a fantastic driver training instructor. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this sad time.
