Thomas Harrison Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 11, 2025.
Thomas Harrison, 83, of Seabrook, New Hampshire passed peacefully on the morning of Tuesday, August 26th, 2025, after a lengthy illness.

Thomas (Tom) Harrison, affectionately known as "Pops", "Papa", and "Uncle Tommy", lived a long and beautiful life. Tom was born August 4th, 1942, in Salem, Massachusetts to the late William J. Harrison, and Marie A. (Michaud) Demirs. In addition to his parents, he was also raised by his late stepfather Jeffrey H. Demirs, whom he expressed great gratitude for. Tom was preceded in death by his older brother "Billy" William J. Harrison Jr. whom he greatly missed.

Family meant the world to Tom. In 1999 life became extremely difficult after the passing of his mother Marie as she was his heart. He constantly reminisced sharing stories of his mom, dads, mémere, aunts, uncles, brother, and other relatives. These stories brought joy to his family and friends, to see life through his eyes. Throughout his life, he never lost his love for helping others and loving children. He was the best son, dad, grandpa, and friend to many people in his life.

Tom was a hard-working man, driven to succeed. His work ethic and strength were unmatched and were his prominent attributes. At the young age of 6, he could be found selling newspapers out of his wagon for a nickel in Lynn square. Throughout the years he held numerous jobs, ranging from truck driving in NYC, to laundromats, to making donuts for the family at Ziggy's in Salem. His most significant professional accomplishments transpired during the long years he dedicated himself to working at General Electric (GE) in Lynn, Massachusetts. His specialty and focus there were on manufacturing Aerodynamic components for jet engines. During long shifts he'd spend some time conversing over coffee and donuts with his co-workers, whom he was very fond of. General Electric held a special place for Tom. This is where he flourished as a machinist, problem solver, and a leader. It is also where he got to spend time with his late father William as they both were employed there.

Tom was a man that loved a good dad joke and wanted to make the most of life. From a young age he developed a passion for riding motorcycles and made it his mission to ride until he physically was unable to. As many may know, Tom thoroughly enjoyed going to the poker room. He thrived in this setting because he could mix and mingle with people, make friends, laugh, have coffee, and lose some hands. Tom also adored feeding the birds daily regardless of the season or weather. He would have moments where he would sit in his doorway and watch them come and go for hours.

Thomas Harrison's physical presence will be immensely missed. He was the person everyone could always count on no matter what the circumstance was. Tom provided people with sound advice and even though it might have been tough to hear at times - it was from a place of love and support. He instilled morals and ambitions in all his loved ones. All the selfless love, comfort, and kindness he gave everyone was well received with profound gratitude.

Tom is survived by his former wife Carol Ann Tkachuk; her children; grandchildren; and great grandchildren, his adopted daughter Casandra Phillip; grandchildren Alexa & Aliyah, adopted daughter Nicole Saldarriaga, Sister-in-law Catherine (Macleod) Harrison; dear friends Cassie Scanlon; The Monohan's; The Spring's; The Sygowski's; The Walton's ; and many others.
