So very sorry to learn tonight of Alex’s passing. We were neighbors for many years when he lived in Nashville, TN. He lived in a very rustic, small log cabin that overlooked the South Harpeth River in the “country” outside of the city. Many would say it was a writer’s paradise. He owned another nicer home but much preferred the cabin on the river. Our road was private and the area was totally serene. We sold our home and moved before Alex and would still see him out and about occasionally. He was a gifted, talented, kind man and friend to all. He leaves a wonderful legacy in his writings and music and especially in his children and grandchildren. Prayers for all. I am so very sorry for your loss.

We met Mr. Harvey at a concert In Llano for Johnny Rodriguez. He was recognized in the audience. We caught up with him and asked him to take pictures with us and sign autographs which he did and was so gracious and complimentary and oh, so nice and sweet to all of us. He was just the best! I have never met a man so nice that was famous and happy to provide autographs and pictures and be sweet and complimentary to each one of us in the process! It was a night I will always remember! I am so sorry for his loss. My condolences to his wife and family. He surely was one of a kind.

I will forever be thankful that the time we spent together was always impactful. I have so many vivid memories of traveling and adventures with my grandpa, and I hope they continue to live inside me for the long haul. From giving me my first guitar, to making me join him on stage against my will to perform. Watching him cook my meals and then bless them. Floating the river In front of his old cabin. Taking bike rides in the backwoods of Tennessee on a bike that he and I picked out in a junkyard and reconditioned together, then painted it my favorite color and put a license plate with my name on That tiny bicycle. That was 20 years ago and I still have the childs size bike. For the memories. Fixing my guitar while on vacation in The Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. Taking naps and watching him write songs. He was a great leader for me as a child and I wish I could have spent more time with him as a young adult. Thanks for everything grandpa. May you Rest In Peace. Love you - Ben

Our friendship with ALEX and Gineille began when we met at Fuel Coffee House in Llano, Texas. They were wanting to move to the Texas Hill Country so we invited them to stay on our little Ranch whenever they came from Nashville. Alex was a warm, endearing, complex character who would greet me wearing a big cross around his neck. When I opened my screen door, he would greet me by speaking in tongues.
We are sad to lose him on this side of Heaven. We send Gineille and his family warm condolences. May the Lord comfort all of you during this time of grief and in the future. The happy thought is that Alex has moved on to a better place.

I cannot find the words to convey the impact Alex had on our family and the loss we feel. Alex was something else, there will never be another like him. He had a way of bringing joy to anyone he met whether it was by singing or telling funny stories about people he met or things that he had done. So gifted whether it was writing a song, growing tomatoes or making the best salsa I have ever had. He love my daughter with all his heart and soul. We hope you know Alex how truly you are missed and loved.

Alex was a best friend in high school. Together we fished, rode horses, double dated, and played rock n roll all over West Tennessee. We even auditioned for Sam Phillips at Sun Studio in Memphis. He actually was a high school band director in Paducah, Ky. Prior to going to Nashville and the music scene, RIP old friend. Sincerely, Joe Sills.
