BELFAST – Mr. Thomas Brown (Tommy) Hawkins, age 70, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006, at his home following a brief illness.
He was born in Richlands and was the son of the late William T. and Eileen Brown Hawkins, both Russell County natives.
He had made his home in the Belfast area for the last 38 years and was a retired employee of Eastern Isles Corporation in Richlands. He was a graduate of Richlands High School Class of 1953 and a graduate of Bluefield College and attended Concord College. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a member of Cedar Bluff Lodge 260 AF & AM and the Richlands Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 104. He was a member of the Kazim Temple and Scottish Rite Bodies of Roanoke.
Survivor: his wife, Lois White Hawkins.
Funeral services for Mr. Thomas Brown (Tommy) Hawkins will be conducted Friday, Jan. 27, 2006, at 1 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, with the Rev. Brad Scott officiating. Interment will follow at the White Family Cemetery in Belfast.
Pallbearers will be Jason Perkins, Rodney Brown, Jim Burns, Cameron Martin, Austin Martin, J.R. Watson, Lee Roy Cline, Donald White and Tommy White. Honorary pallbearers will be G.I. Brown, Lincoln Watson, W.R. White, Joe Lopresti, Claude Barrett and Clyde Barrett.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. Thursday at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands. Masonic services will be held Thursday at 7 p.m.
