Thomas G. Healey

Healey, Thomas G. age 68, of Scottsdale, AZ, passed on December 5. Preceded in death by his parents and a brother and survived by partner Robert Hovey, 7 sisters, and 22 nieces and nephews. A celebration of his life was held on December 8 in AZ. Tom was a senior Naval Corpsman in Anesthesia in Da Nang, Vietnam. His nursing education was from St. Mary's College and Hospital, Minneapolis where he became Chief Nurse Anesthetist and Director of the Nurse Anesthesia School. He received his MA from the University of St. Thomas. For more than 20 years Tom was director of Anesthesia Services at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. He then became assistant professor and co-program director of the Nurse Anesthesia program, St. Mary's University of MN. Tom was a national officer of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) and served on many of its boards. He was extensively involved with the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthesia. He retired to Scottsdale, AZ in 2010. Memorials may be made in memory of Tom Healey to the AANA Foundation at 222 S. Prospect Ave., Park Ridge, IL 60068.
