Thomas Hession

I graduated from TMHS in 1980. I have fond memories of Tom Hession, especially how he led a trip to Washington in the spring of our senior year. He was an excellent social studies and US History teacher and I enjoyed the "current events" contests he held on Fridays. I stopped in to see him periodically while attending Central Conn. State University where I received my BA in political science/public admin, inspired in part by him. I last saw Tom Hession in 1985, a year after I graduated from college. Time certainly doesn't stop for anyone. It should be noted that Thomas Hession played on a state varsity basketball championship squad. Tom Hession was a great man and a wonderful teacher. I've been blessed with a longstanding career as an award-winning journalist and I credit "Mr. Hession" for mentoring and leadership. He will be missed...

I'm very sorry for your loss. Even after all these years, I still remember Mr. Hession. He was a great teacher!

To Helen and the entire Hession family, My condolences. As indicated by many of his students, Tom was my favorite teacher and a friend throughout these years. He was truly a unique individual with a great sense of humor. I am so glad that I got to see him at his induction into the TMHS Hall of Fame ceremony. I will miss him dearly.

Please accept our condolences and deepest sympathy on your loss. We will miss Tom as we often talked with him as he walked by our house. He always had something nice to say and usually something funny to make us laugh. He was an exceptional person who will be missed very much.

It's truly a sad day and a great loss to learn that Mr. Hession has passed away. Having been a student of his, I can tell you that he brought humor as well as a joy of learning to his classroom. His teaching style was unique in that he used dry humor to create an effective and mutually respectful environment. I will always remember the energy in his class during 'current events' as well as the carefully chosen nicknames he made up for several of my classmates.

The world has lost a truly great teacher. One who knew how to engage a classroom with a unique balance of humor and story. He will be truly missed, but fondly remembered --especially by the TMHS class of '87

So sorry to hear about Tom's passing. He was a great guy and I loved his sense of humor. He would always tip me for home cooking the baseball banquet. He will be missed, you have my deepest sympathy on your loss.

Mr. Hession had such an impact on so many of his students, I am sure I am just one of many. His teaching skills were enhanced by his humor, creating a fun and enjoyable way to learn. I can only hope he knew how much he meant to so many of us. He will be sadly missed.

So sorry to hear about Mr. Hession. He was truly an amazing person. I was one of the lucky ones who had him as my teacher. Even though it has been so many years since I have seen him, he has crossed my mind many times over the years. His great humor, the trips he took his students on....and the way he was able to reach his students. There aren't many like Mr. Hession. May he rest in peace.
