EDWARDS, Thomas Howard - 1936-2018 - The family announces with great sorrow his passing at Sault Area Hospital on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at the age of 81. Predeceased by his beloved partner, Sara Forsyth (September 6, 2015). Loving father of Derek (Dawn) of Toronto, Susan (John Kosta) of Timmins and Janice (Guy Schultz) of London, and grandfather of Sam and Luke, both of Toronto. Dearly missed by his siblings Vivian McLean (Raymond), Judith Hay (Bill), Glen and Danny, and by his brother-in-law Aldee Martel (Lorna), his good friend and casino companion, Darlene Govett and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Howard and Muriel, his siblings Lorna Martel (Aldee), Bill, Michael, Gerald, Jackie and Howard. Tom was a kind, extremely bright and adventurous person with a terrific sense of humour. And he had a charm about him that everyone who met him instantly saw. He was always there to lend a helping hand, whether it be for a family member, friend or a stranger on the side of the road. He loved to travel, having taken many a road trip throughout Canada and the United States, and would think nothing of driving ten hours to have a quick cup of tea with a family member, and maybe fix their plumbing while he's there. In recent years, Tom enjoyed reading books about a wide variety of subjects, most recently finding intrigue in the science of quantum mechanics. Although Tom will be missed by all his family and friends, we are comforted in knowing that he, Sara and his sister, Lorna are together again having a grand old time. The family will receive friends to celebrate Tom's life between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm on Friday, March 2, 2018 at the Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. East 705-759-2522).
