We were neighbors and friends in Naugatuck and I remember Tommy when he was a boy delivering newspapers with his sister Sally, who was my classmate.

Mrs Kopp,Mike,Blaine,Deige, and Jessica, please know that the loss of your loving husband,father, and grandfather to all your children, is also not being forgotten far away. The Kopp family's passion for sports at both the high school and collegiate levels can never be forgotten. I say this as I played JV soccer with Blaine, and my brother played a year of varsity football with Mike. Both the sons, and their sister, Deige were signature reflections of their mother and father's parenting, and good sportmanship--both,on and off the playing field...again, my condolences to your family.

May the wonderful memories of family and friends be a source of great comfort to all of you during this sad time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I went to Colby and worked and volunteered in the admissions office all four years. I remember Tom fondly and am very saddened by his death and all of our loss. Condolensces to his family.

I have the fondest memories of working with Tom as a college adviser at St. Paul's School and Westminster School and I wish to extend condolences to his family.

Tom was a terrific colleague at Colby and we shall miss him tremendously.

My dad worked for many years with Tom at Colby College. He was constantly talking about what a wonderful, funny man he was. I attended Colby and remember him that way as well. I am so sorry for your loss. He will be missed dearly by all who had the good fortune to cross paths with him

I worked with Tom in the Colby admission office for five years. While I am very sad right now, the smile will return as I remember his laugh, his jokes, and the incredible influence he continues to have on my life. Love to his family and all who know and miss him.

Dear Kopp Family, I had the privilege of playing for Tom. He was a terrific role model who took care of everyone. When my mother died during our football season and I had to drive home he made sure I had money in my pocket and promised to call him upon arrival. A true gentleman!

From the time you both moved into your apartment on Framington Ave and Coach took the football and baseball jobs at Avon I became one of the lucky ones.His role as a mentor has had a great impact on me.His voice is of a man who blazes trails,opens doors,and pours foundations opon are built opportnities for others.His commitment to his peers players,to most important his own family,is unparalleled.I played three years of football and baseball and when coach had me captain both sports nothing made me happier.....He gave a bunch of small town kids a taste of major league class. Our sincerest condolences and prayers go out to the family of Mr. Kopp. We've had the pleasure of two of his grandchildren go through our nursery school and his spirit will live on through them, and others.

I have been privileged to attend Naugatuck High School with Tom. He was a leader on the athletic field and down to earth elsewhere. After you had interacted with Tom you came away a better person for it. Please accept my sincerest condolences.

Without the help of Tom Kopp, I would not have gone to Colby. I played football for him and respected him. I am sure there are many others like me that owe a Thank You to such a gracious man. He was a quiet hero to many of us.

To Blaine, his mom and their family:

Would that mere words could offer sufficient comfort at this time. But do know that you are held in the loving thoughts of your estuarine friends both near and far.

My deepest regrets and sympathies for Tom's family. I worked in the Colby Admissions Office during college, and he was always kind and generous towards me. I remember many conversations in his office, and the words of advice and guidance he shared. I am grateful to have known him.

Coach Kopp was an man of great integrity. I had the good fortune to play for Coach Kopp during my final two years at Colby, from 1979-81. We kept in touch over the years and I am thankful that I had a chance to have a nice conversation with Coach Kopp in late September when he very considerately called me while he was away on a trip to Chicago. My heartfelt prayers are with your family.

The world desperatly needs more men like Tom and it is such a tragedy when one is taken away. There is such a big hole it can never be filled.I remember babysitting for the kids when I was a student at Uconn, and staying at your cottage on the Cape. I was shocked when Teddie told me the news. Take comfort in each other and stay strong. Our deepest condolences.

Coach K was my coach my last two years at Colby, and simply one of the nicest men I have ever met. My thoughts and prayers are with the Kopp family.

I've known Tom since I arrived at Colby in 1987 as an administrator. When Tom found out I was leaving Colby earlier this year to pursue full time ministry, he was one of the first to congratulate me. He was truly a man of great compassion, love, and warmth - he was the heart of Colby to so many. His smile and passion will be missed!

To Kopp Family-

Coach Kopp was my football and baseball coach at Avon High School in 1963/1964. He was a real pro, good guy and good coach. He move our sports teams to a significantly higher level. After 43 years he is fondly and respectfully remembered right here and right now.

I want you to know how very sorry I am at the loss of your husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend. Mr. Kopp has always held such a fond place in my heart for all of the wonderful memories our families made together when we kids were young, and for the supportive, loving friendship he has given my parents through the years. The world is a less joyful place without him in it. My thoughts are with you.

I was so sorry to hear of this terrible accident. Tom was my defensive backs coach at Dartmouth College during the 1973 through 1975 seasons. I know I drove him crazy, but I always considered him to be a great guy, and a great person. He was very patient and knowledgeable. I was happy to learn that he was working in admissions at Colby because I thought that would be a rewarding, fulfilling and appropriate position for him. My condolences to the entire Kopp family.

I have met two true gentlemen since I came to work at Colby College and Tom Kopp was one of those two. He will be greatly missed by many.

Tom and I were teammates and classmates since we were 10, and after High School. His dad, Warren, and my dad were good friends.
I had been in email contact with him hoping he could come to our 50 year reunion.
