As a newly-hired faculty member in 1970, Tom made my transition to UNC-G so very positive. I recall many instnces of us bantering and laughing in the hallway of the Forny Building where Econ was housed in those days. The students adored him.

I deeply regret not having the chance of seeing him one more time. My deepest condolences to his family.

I will always remember Tom as a good friend and colleague. When I came to UNCG in 1971, you could always find him surrounded by admiring students, holding court in front of the faculty lounge on Campus Drive. Tom was devoted to his students and they loved and admired him.

My prayers and best wishes go out to his family and friends who will always miss him and think fondly of him.

As a Business major in 1979 I was fortunate to have two Economics classes with Dr. Leary. His modesty and humor made these dry subjects more interesting and an enjoyable experience.

My prayers are with the family during this time of sadness.

I enjoyed Professor Leary's wit in class at UNC-G. He was a neighbor and a great inspiration. What a truly great man! He will be sorely missed!

i KNEW DR. TOM FROM MY DAYS AT UNC-G AND HAD CLASSES WITH HIM. HE DID HAVE A GOOD SENSE OF HUMOR AND ONCE TOLD ME THERE WAS A REAL DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE ACADEMIC WORLD AND THE REAL WORLD. "PUBLISH OR PERISH", HE WOULD SAY. MY EARNEST CONDOLENCES TO HIS FAMILY.

I'll always remember Tom's smile, and his quick sense of humor. He shared his gift of deep thought with countless students (myself included), and was a wonderful man. I will miss him!
