I was just made aware of the passing away of Tom Mack. I worked for Tom along with his brothers Jim, John, and brother in law Gary Butts. This was my first job, and once I graduated from ISU, I decide
d to move down to NAPLES, FLa.

I asked Tom for a job letter of reccomendation and Mr. Mack obliged by giving me my first outstanding letter of reference. He was very kind in his observation of my job performance, leadership abilities, and overall work ethic. Tom was a very astute business owner, and kind man who asked nothing more than he would do himself. Thanks again to Tom and the rest of his brothers(Jim, John, and brother in law Gary Butts for believing in me. You all also gave me my start in management with MCDonald's. I recently retired from working with the Mcdonalds Corporation after 34 years. Take care Tom we will see you again one day in HEAVEN. Your Friend, Douglas Hamrick.

Tom, at times like these I am at a loss for words, so I defer to those who really know how to write.

"To thine own self be true and it must follow as the night the day thou canst not then be false to any man".

Shakespeare -HAMLET

That's you Tom. Never false.

Griffin High class of 1960 loss one of its really good guys. Tom was a main-stay on the football field for Cathedral/Griffin and a true gentleman in life. He was always a pleasure to talk with at our reunions and I am sorry to see him go. RIP, Tom.

I worked with Tom and his brothers John and Jim from 1959 through 1962 and also played many a round of golf with his father. They all were very good people and I'm sorry to hear that Tom pasted away.

Much like his Lithuanian immigrant father John Mack, Tom was a great man and a great leader who answered the call of his fellow man and the times in which he lived. I was privileged to tell the heroic story of the Mack family on my blog and in my book about Lithuanians in Springfield.
