Great fraternity brother, he was responsible for getting the brothers back for homecoming after we graduated. He did this for many years before he died. A lot of work but very appreciated by the brothers who attended. Ken Smith 1966

We just learned of Tom's passing. Tom was a wonderful man who did so much for so many. We met him through a mutual friend from Cincinnati, our "old" hometown. We loved his tennis spirit and his professionalism in the real estate community. He sold us, as well as our daughter Krista, our homes here in Naples. Tom will be sorely missed but we're sure he's watching down and smiling on us as we miss those tennis shots that shouldn't be missed.
Our sympathy to his entire family.

Dear boys,
I am sorry to hear of the passing of your dad. I recall him as a good professional member of our real estate community here in Naples, and a very nice man. I'm sure he set an ideal example for you.

Tommy was my first tennis instructor here in Hamilton, Ohio when I was about 8. One of the first things I did at a lesson was to spill an entire cart of balls all over the court. He took it well. I adored that man as did so many of us up here. I wish the family hadn't moved away - Hamilton's loss, Naples's huge gain.

Just a few short weeks ago I got an e-mail from him. He'd heard I was having some hard times and he was just checking on me. I messaged him back but never heard from him again. His thoughtfulness and selflessness shone through even on his death bed. Unbelievable.

The ol' Net Set community up here in Hamilton will never forget you, Tommy. Your drive and apparent faith are an inspiration to me.

Tons of love to the entire Manring family, Pam et al....

When Eric text me that Tom died Friday night. I immediately thought How can one person mean that much to so many? Tom and I met in 87 and hit it off instantly. So much so that we bought our house off of him. Not only that we lived next door. I watched Josh,Tyler, and Eric grow up.. Julie and I could always count on Tom coming over to hit with Leslie,Lindsey,Mikey on the make shift court the driveway at Victoria Park. Tom was named the Muffin Man by Leslie because he loved Julie's blueberry muffins. A name that stuck between our kids and Tom through the years. Tom for some reason loved to hit that awful backhand drop shot against me. When it was successful which was a high percentage of the time he would give that Tommy fist pump and laugh. I'm pretty sure he didn't respect my speed. That was Tom he loved tennis and he loved life and especially his boys. I am so happy Mikey got to know Tom and be around him a little bit. Tom as we all know was struggling for years with his health. He always asked me how I was doing? He did not want to focus on himself. Tom's life will be celebrated today because that's the spirit of Tom he would want all of us to carry on. It's easier for us because an extension of Tom's life lives in Josh,Tyler and Eric and there extended family. The Raymond family will always love and cherish the memory of Tom Manring. How could one person mean that much to so many? RIP Tom

It's not every day that one meets a life-long friend, a long-time USTA/WTA doubles partner, and the equivalent of a third "brother" but I was afforded all these gifts when I met Tom in 1965. He was an inspiration in his positive outlook on life no matter the odds. May you rest well, my friend. Josh, Eric, Tyler and families, we hold you in our hearts in the loss of your beloved father.

I met Tom right after my 27 year old son was killed. He was my real estate agent and became my dear friend. We talked on the phone weekly and I stayed in his home. He was like a father to me and showed me much love and encouragement. He was the best of what the human spirit has to offer. I kayaked with him down the Estero River and we talked about God the whole time. It was a great honor to have him as my friend and I look forward seeing him again when we stand in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ together. I know he is there right now. My sincere sympathy for his loss to his family which he loved and talked about constantly.

How sad to hear about the passing of Tom. I only recently met Tom, along with his sons Tyler and Eric, at the Naples Y. He truly touched me as a very kind person. While he was obviously struggling with health issues at the time, he still showed great interest in other people's lives. I am sorry I did not get to meet him much sooner and my deep condolences to the family.

Dear Manring Family,
We knew Tom from the YMCA as a coach for the womens USTA team. What a fabulous coach and human being. He taught with humor and grace and knew when to kick our butts! We shared many a laugh and even a few tears. It is unfair he had to suffer so much with his health. Naples lost a good one. He will be missed.
