Thomas McAuliffe Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 23 to Mar. 24, 2023.
Thomas A. McAuliffe, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed peacefully on January 23, 2023, at age 88.

Tom was born in Cork, Ireland, and immigrated to New York at age 14 to live with relatives in the Bronx. He enlisted in the Army and served in Korea. He was a long-time resident of Long Island and had a successful career in Manhattan at International Paper Company, working his way from the mail room to the executive offices. When not traveling the country for work, he spent time with family, golfing, collecting quotes, and visiting Montauk. Tom retired to Sebastian, Florida, where he and Eileen enjoyed a schedule filled with golf, friendships, social activities (including the Irish Club) and pancake breakfasts at the local coffee shop.

Tom touched many people with his warm smile and helpful ways and made the world a better place.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Christina, and his brothers Eugene and Noel. Beloved husband for 64 years to Eileen, devoted father to Jeanne McAuliffe, Christine Bowen, and Diane Anderson. Proud father-in-law to Steve Kratunis, Glyn Bowen, and Gary Anderson. Loving Papou to Ashley, Grace, and Amanda, and great grandfather to Brennan, Kyle, and McCale.

A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 27th at St. Luke Catholic Church, Barefoot Bay, followed by interment at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to VNA Hospice House Vero Beach https://vnatc.org/programs/hospice-house/ or Boys Town https://www.boystown.org would be appreciated.

Arrangements are entrusted to Strunk Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1623 North Central Avenue, Sebastian, Florida 32958.

I had so many great times with Tom at Smithtown Landing. He was a fellow lefty. I knew him during his days at International Paper. My last memory was of him either working or living in Bridgeport, CT. He would use the Port Jeff ferry. I will never forget his infectious laugh.
