Wow, I have forgotten how much you look like him Bob. I´ll never forget how much fun Prince had with Tommy when Prince first joined our family. He was a great guy, just like his little brother is.

I was a neighbor and classmate of Tom's going through school with him from kindergarten through graduation. Tom was elected president of our senior class in 1968 and was respected by all of us. He could tell a great joke and a lot of fun to be in class with. He was an excellent athlete and nature lover and I'm not surprised that he ended up as an arborist. Kathy I'm so sorry for your loss and hope that the happy years you shared with sustain you for a long time. Lynne Simon Ploetz

Tom was always out front of everybody in sports in Mason City, I played two years of football with him at MCHS. He was a tremendous quarter miler. I was a student of his mother in the 5th grade at Roosevelt Elementary School. What a loss he is to the world.

Tom and I spent our high school days either hunting, fishing or camping down by the river on Hagen's farm. Thank you Tom for all those times together and the memories we made. Rest in peace old friend, see you on the other side.

Very appropriate obit for Tom. Good job, Bob. He always teased me about my pony tail growing up, and made me laugh. He will be missed. He was a great guy!

I knew Tom in High School through his brief time at the University of Iowa. He was extremely nice and very unique. I remember he was known as a stellar athlete particularly in football. He was so modest about it. He was different in that he liked classical music. He once told me that he liked chasing squirrels up trees to the very top! Well that explains everything! A very fine person. Even the trees will miss him.

Tom has been on top of many of the cottonwoods of Island Park, trimming laterals to reduce prospects of their failure. He was a friend. He dropped by. We talked trees. The parks of Springfield were well served many years by Tom. I always had a respect for his skills, and a love for his way of being, and knowing he returned my love because we knew. Thank you Kathy, thinking of you. Thank you Tom McCartney.
