THOMAS MEKONIS Obituary
75, died on Wednesday, February 2, 2011, of Bridgeville, formerly of Scott Twp. A graduate civil engineer of Carnegie Tech University, and a member of the U.S. Army Engineering Division. He was employed by the Fort Pitt Bridge Works, Salvucci Engineering, and Kvaerner Engineering. He was an avid sports enthusiast, loved golf, bowling and fishing. Husband of Carmella Obosky; father of Joseph (Sandy) Mekonis of Saco, Maine, Theresa (Ken) Homnick of Bridgeville, Cyndi (Bill) Moore of Coraopolis, Sandy Mekonis of Wilmington, DE, Mike Mekonis of Bridgeville, and Stephen (Samantha) Mekonis of Raleigh, NC; brother of Marianne Cramer and the late John Mekonis; also survived by five granddaughters. Friends are being welcomed at the BEINHAUER- FRYER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, on Friday from 6-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Child Church on Saturday at 1 p.m. Please add or view tributes at:

I worked with Tom years ago at Rust Engineering and again at Wheelabrator-Frye. Tom was a good person to work with and I enjoyed his company. My condolences for your loss. Ted Sockaci

To the Menkonis Family, We maybe be far but you are all close in our hearts at this very diffcult time. Tom put up a brave front and he had such a loving and devoted family to care for him. Such a great family and good neighbors. God bless

I worked with Big Tom at Kvaerner in the 90's. He was a good Engineer and I enjoyed working with him. He loved his family.
