Thomas Moran Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 29, 2024.
Thomas Daniel Moran, Jr. passed away peacefully on September 10, 2024, with his beloved sister right by his side. Tommy was born on January 5, 1974 at Riverside Hospital in Boonton Township, New Jersey. From the moment he entered this world, Tommy's undeniable spirit lit up the room. His infectious smile & laughter grew to become the heart and soul of his entire family. Tommy's joy, love, and laughter left an indelible mark on all who were lucky enough to know him throughout his lifetime.

In his youth, Tommy's enthusiasm knew no bounds, and his passion for life was most evident when he was participating in his favorite activities like swimming, bowling, and karate. Tommy's passions grew to be as diverse as they were endearing, from his love of games & superhero movies to his creative pursuits with art, music, and dancing. His love for life extended beyond his hobbies to the loved ones around him, and Tommy was known for greeting friends & family with a huge smile, energetic high five, enthusiastic fist bump, or great big bear hug.

Known for his mischievous wit, Tommy's jokes and antics brought so much laughter to those around him. We all carry with us a host of unforgettable memories and classic "Tommy Stories" that are now deeply ingrained in the fabric of our family. Tommy's special birthday tributes, personalized songs, and holiday videos were legendary among his family & friends, and we now have so many treasured mementos to look back on and smile as we fondly remember our beloved "Little Tommy."

As Tommy grew older, he showed great courage in the face of adversity, overcoming numerous medical challenges with bravery and resilience. Tommy's passing brings much sadness and sorrow to family and friends, but we also feel a sense of pride that we had the great privilege of experiencing Tommy's pure love and joyous spirit. Tommy was preceded in death by his devoted parents, Thomas and Lorraine Moran. Tommy is survived by his loving sister Jill and brother-in-law Jim. He will be deeply missed by his large extended family of beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Tommy leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience, forever cherished by countless family members and friends whose lives he touched with his unwavering spirit. Though Tommy may have left this world, his spirit remains eternally vibrant, and his memory will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. Rest in peace, dear Tommy, your laughter will live on in our hearts forever.

A memorial to honor and celebrate Tommy's life will be privately held for the family on October 12, 2024. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to the Department for Persons with Disabilities in Tommy's memory at https://ccpaterson.org/tommy.

To know my brother is to love him, so it is with great sadness that I share the devastating news of my brother Tommy´s passing. Tommy´s personality was larger than life, and I know he made an impact on so many people during his lifetime. Words are failing me as I try to write a tribute that would even begin to approach capturing the legacy that Tommy leaves behind. So instead, I am going to share a story that I hope will bring peace and comfort to everyone at this difficult time.

When it S T O R M S,
Look for R A I N B O W S

This weekend I made the difficult decision to transition Tommy to comfort care, after a brave health journey over the past few years. I was obviously heartbroken and looking for any kind of sign that what we were doing was the best thing for Tommy. A sign from God. A sign from my parents. A sign from the Universe. Any kind of sign that would indicate we were doing exactly what we needed for Tommy. The doctors said that Tommy still had some time left & he was resting comfortably, so I left the hospital to get some rest before facing the reality of what was to come. It was stormy and pouring rain when we headed outside. It was gloomy, dark, solemn, and it felt like the weather was matching my mood. On the way home from the hospital, the skies cleared & opened up...and there in the sky was the most vibrant rainbow! My heart soared when I saw it out of the corner of my eye, thinking maybe this is my sign! Then as we continued driving & were getting closer to home, right over the area of my mom´s house, I realized it was actually a double rainbow!

I like to think that this was a sign from my parents, letting me know that they would take it from here and welcome Tommy home with open arms. I´m sure that many of you in NJ had the opportunity to witness this magnificent display on that Saturday, and I am happy that I could share this beautiful moment with all of you. This touching memory will live on in my heart forever, and I hope we can all take this as a sign to be at peace knowing that Tommy is now back in the loving arms of his parents & he will be watching over us from somewhere over the rainbows.
