Thomas MOSCO Obituary

Published by Ottawa Citizen on Sep. 25, 2017.
MOSCO, Thomas Thomas Samuel Mosco, 64, of Ottawa Ontario passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 18, 2017. Thomas, son of the late Viola (Kilby) and John Mosco, stepson of Elvin Schroeder and son-in-law to John Bryson is survived by his wife Kimberly and his daughters Victoria and Kathleen. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Lin (Poirier) Bryson; his sisters and their late spouses Jo-Anne (and Michael) and Bernadine (and Jack); his brothers and their spouses Joseph (and Tami), David, and Shawn; his brother-in-law James and several nieces and nephews. Tom was a well-respected member of the Ottawa Police Service for 35 years and enjoyed cooking, listening to countless genres of great music, volunteering, cycling, walking the family's Yorkshire Terrier ""George"" and uplifting people with his unique sense of humour. From an early age, Tom loved helping his community and enriched the lives of many people with his incredible light and kindness, a tradition that followed him into retirement. Nothing brought him more joy than spending time with family and friends over a good cup of coffee, where the greatest parts of his character graced those around him. Tom will be greatly missed as he has entered fully into the presence of his Lord and Saviour. A visitation will be held on September 29, 2017 at Kelly Funeral Home (585 Somerset St. W.) from 3:00-5:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Tom's memorial mass will be held at Saint Patrick's Basilica (Kent at Nepean) on September 30, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with the celebration of his life to follow directly after at Kelly Funeral Home (585 Somerset St. W). The family has requested in lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in his memory be considered.

I was very saddened when I heard about Tom's passing. He was a real gentleman and police officer. He was a favourite regular at our Tim Hortons at Blair when we were owners. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the whole Mosco family! Sharon Huang and Family

I'm saddened by your passing Tom. I enjoyed speaking and working with you at the Ottawa Police. Always having something funny to say; it was always good to see you. To Kim and your daughters I'm very sorry for your loss. He was taken too soon.

Tom was a great man and a great police officer. He lived the Ottawa Police values of Honour, Courage, and Service to his fellow man. I am so saddened to learn of his untimely passing. Certainly he will be amongst Heaven's angels now guarding the pearly gates. Gone too soon old friend.

Tom was much appreciated by those in Rockcliffe over the years that he was in charge of the Police Centre in the Village - and he was loved by its many volunteers. He represented the epitome of good community policing: he was a lovely man - kind, genial, helpful and encouraging. Tom was always there when needed, and often turned up at my parents' address to drop off fruit shared from his garden, or just to have a natter. He provided valuable advice, offered a personal safety check of our family home, and even had an annual picture taken with my young nephew, lending him his police cap to encourage a future police volunteer. Tom was a man worth emulating, and he will be missed indeed. RIP

Tom was a special friend to our family during his years as the officer in charge of the Rockcliffe Community Police Centre and he continued to keep in touch after he retired from the force. His untimely death was a shock. We will miss his smiling face and his good humour. RIP.

We are thinking of you at this very difficult time. I worked with Tom for a number of years on the Force, and was very fortunate to have known him. RIP Tom

Often we would talk before and after a tour of duty as we were in the same area of the locker room....I enjoyed our friendship as I felt comfortable conversing with Tom about such diverse topics ranging from world politics to pro wrestling...... I loved his sense of humour and marvelled at his dry delivery of a joke ..... life is so short
