Thomas Joseph O'Neil

Thomas J. O'Neil, M.D. 1925 - 2007 AGAWAM - Thomas Joseph O'Neil, M.D., 82, passed away Thursday November 8, 2007, at Baystate Medical Center. Born September 24, 1925, in Winsted, Conn, he was a graduate of the University of Connecticut, and served his country in the Army Air Corps. He received his M.D. from New York Medical College, and spent his early years of practice in Redding, Conn. He became an emergency room physician with the former Wesson Emergency Associates at Wesson Memorial Hospital in Springfield. He later served as the Director of Employee Health Services at MassMutual in Springfield until his retirement. He fully enjoyed his work as a physician, and touched many lives along his journey. Tom was predeceased by his brother William O'Neil in 2001. He is survived by his wife, Joan (Lapato) O'Neil; his sister Mary Jane Keiller and her husband Thomas of Medina, Ohio; his brother Robert O'Neil and his wife Sara of Prospect, Ky; his brothers-and sisters-in-law Robert and Patricia Lapato of Bluffton, S.C., and John and Diana Lapato of North Grafton; his eight children; James O'Neil of Bronx, NY; Anne Look and her husband Daniel of Marietta, Ga; Mark O'Neil of Brookline; Terri Berthier and her husband Robert of Newtown, Conn; Margaret Ruddy and her husband Joseph of Tequesta, Fla; Carol Sirota and her husband Michael of Newcastle, Wash; Christopher O'Neil of New York; and Jeanne O'Neil and her fiance Donald Thompson of Agawam. He also leaves 11 grandchildren; one great-grandson, and many nieces and nephews. The funeral wil be held Tuesday morning at 10 at Sacred Heart Church, 1065 Springfield St., Feeding Hills, arranged by Curran Jones Funeral Home. There will be no calling hours.
