Thomas Duane Poole Sr.

Thomas Duane Poole, Sr., age 85 passed away Sunday, June 15, 2013 at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. He was a native of Johnson County and the son of the late Duke Poole and the late Ozelle Woodley Poole. Mr. Poole was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He built successful businesses in the plumbing and building/development industries. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Richard Ray Poole; a sister, Edna Earle Yopp; and two brothers, Aubrey Duke Poole and Reginald M. Poole. He is survived by three children; Dawn Evans and husband, Neil; Jenny Gilbert and husband, Marty, and Thomas D. Poole, Jr. and wife, Angie; six grandchildren, Brandon Evans, Darryl Evans, Sean Strickland, Grant Gilbert, Skylar Poole, and Hunter Poole; seven grandchildren, and one sister, Frances Yeargan. The family will receive friends, from 6:00p.m. until 9:00p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at McLaurin Funeral Home. Committal services will be privately held.
