Thomas Duane Poole, Sr., age 85 passed away Sunday, June 15, 2013 at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. He was a native of Johnson County and the son of the late Duke Poole and the late Ozelle Woodley Poole. Mr. Poole was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He built successful businesses in the plumbing and building/development industries. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Richard Ray Poole; a sister, Edna Earle Yopp; and two brothers, Aubrey Duke Poole and Reginald M. Poole. He is survived by three children; Dawn Evans and husband, Neil; Jenny Gilbert and husband, Marty, and Thomas D. Poole, Jr. and wife, Angie; six grandchildren, Brandon Evans, Darryl Evans, Sean Strickland, Grant Gilbert, Skylar Poole, and Hunter Poole; seven grandchildren, and one sister, Frances Yeargan. The family will receive friends, from 6:00p.m. until 9:00p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at McLaurin Funeral Home. Committal services will be privately held. Memorial may be made to either, Harbor, Inc., P.O. Box 1903, Smithfield, NC 27577 or to SECU Hospice House, 426 Hospital Road, Smithfield, NC 27577. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.mclaurinatpinecrest.com. Arrangements are with McLaurin at Pinecrest Memorial Park, Funerals & Cremations.
