Thomas Calvin Powers

I was very sorry to hear we lost Uncle Calvin.
Long ago after we moved to Chattanooga and the girls were still small, Dad (Albert) would take us to the “candy” store at Coffee Pot to treat the girls. Calvin would be sitting behind the counter, a big grin would come on his face and he would ask in a mischievous voice, “How you doing olde Waldo?” Then he'd listen to my report of what was going on with us.
I always enjoyed hearing Calvin sing those high notes when the “Power Quartet” would sing. I can imagine them singing in even better harmony now as they sing praises to God in Heaven.
I suppose Donny inherited his gift for singing from Calvin. Maybe they will do a duet for us some day.
May the Lord comfort and strengthen you during these difficult times.

One of the best men who ever lived. I shall miss him dreadfully. You cannot possibly know how very, very dear he was to me. I have already put his write up from the Athens Courier and his memorial in my scrapbook before it became lost or damaged. I am going to remember the happy times spent with him, all the joyous occasions in his presence. There never was a more sweet spirited loving human being than Calvin Powers. He lived a good life, loved his God and his family what more could one ask for. I didn't lose it until they played the Powers Quartet tape, that undid me. I pray your sweet memories of him will sustain you in the weeks and months to come. I will love all of you always.

I am so very sorry to learn of Calvin's passing. He was one of the sweetest men I've ever known.My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
