Thomas Reeves Obituary

Thomas G. Reeves, 72, Vernon, passed away at 3:19 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at Jennings Health Care Center, North Vernon.
He worked in a diesel engine testing shop at Cummins Engine Co. in Columbus, retiring in 2002 after 43 years. He previously had worked for Stuart for nine years. He was a member of Risen Savior Bible Church in North Vernon and the Diesel Workers Union. He was a 1958 graduate of Columbus High School. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapshooting (49/50 every time), playing the mandolin with the family and playing with his grandkids. He raced motorcycles in the 1960s.
Born April 15, 1940, in Bartholomew County, he was the son of Elihu and Bertha Pittman Reeves. He married Mary Jane Boswell on March 1, 1959, at Bethel Baptist Church in Walesboro.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Reeves, North Vernon; four sons, James (Kim) Reeves, Butlerville, Darrin (Kim) Reeves, Zenas, and Thomas G. (Carla) Reeves II and Jonathan Reeves, both of North Vernon; two daughters, Dana (Mike Dunn) Aldridge, Hayden, and Lora (Bruce) Anderson, Dupont; five brothers,
Oscar "Jerry" (Judy) Reeves, Paul Reeves, Ronnie (Anita) Reeves, all of Columbus, Roger Reeves, Butlerville, and Stanley (Denise) Reeves, North Vernon; two sisters, Judy (Joe) Fields, Florida, and Brenda (Robert) Clerkin, Brown County; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Allen Reeves.
The Rev. Roger Hearne and the Rev. Bob Reeves will be conducting the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Dove-Sharp and Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, North Vernon. Burial will be in Vernon Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to Risen Savior Church or the Alzheimer's Association.www.dovesharprudicel.com.
