Thomas J. Rims, Jr., of Hilltown Twp., PA, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2020, at his home. He was 98.
He was the husband of 63 years of the late Eleanor J. (Ostrowski) Rims until her passing on February 1, 2011.
Born in Hilltown, PA, he was the son of the late Valeria and Thomas J. Rims, Sr.
A U. S. Army Veteran of World War II, he was proud to have fought in the Battle of Normandy.
Mr. Rims worked as a warehouse manager for the FMC Corporation, Colmar, PA, for over 30 years until retiring in 1984. Previously, he was employed by the Artco Corporation, Hatfield, PA, for 15 years.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Hilltown, PA.
A member of the American Legion, Mr. Rims also was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose No. 1539, Sellersville, PA, as well as the Fraternal Order of the Eagles No. 1761, Lansdale, PA. An avid golfer, he loved reading and sitting on his porch. Those who knew him will remember him still standing on his tractor trimming the bushes at the age of 82.
He is survived by three children, Ronald Rims, of Baltimore, MD, Linda Rims Stapleton Egly, of Bedminster, PA, and David Petroff-Rims and his partner Jerry G. Petroff-Rims, of Cherry Hill, NJ; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Amelia Conklin, of Perkasie, PA. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, George C. Egly, Jr., three brothers, John, Anthony and Edwin Rims, and two sisters, Violet Sitko and Frances Rims.
His Funeral Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
Graveside Services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, 1634 Hilltown Pike, Hilltown, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grand View Hospice, 700 Lawn Avenue, Sellersville, PA 18960.
Arrangements are by the Bernard Suess Funeral Home, 606 Arch Street, Perkasie, PA.
