Thomas Rios Jr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 18, 2025.
Thomas Rios Jr., a longtime northern California resident, passed away on April 25, 2025, in Grass Valley, California, at the age of 86 from a pulmonary embolism.

Born in southern California to Louisa Reyes and Thomas G. Rios of Durango, Mexico, Thomas came from a proud Mexican-American lineage, tracing back to his grandmother Ramona's courageous crossing of the Rio Grande with her children.

Thomas served as an aircraft mechanic in the U.S. Air Force and later built a career as a senior road construction inspector, working for the cities of Folsom and West Sacramento before becoming a private consultant. A skilled tradesman and lifelong learner, Thomas was constantly reading, problem-solving, and trying out new hobbies.

He shared 49 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Jean Pearl Husk, raising a vibrant blended family. Thomas led by example-imparting knowledge, offering guidance, and showing unwavering dedication to his loved ones. He volunteered with Meals on Wheels and taught English to Spanish speakers, always eager to give back. As a disabled veteran, he was a strong advocate for veterans' benefits, often helping others navigate the system.

Thomas is survived by his sons Dennis, Bob, Jim, and David; daughters Rhonda, Diana, and Regina; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family. He will be remembered for his warmth, curiosity, and commitment to family and service.

A Celebration of Life will be held on May 31, 2025, in Grass Valley. Please contact the family to RSVP.

My condolences to all of you who are feeling the loss of Thomas.
I knew both him and Jean as we lived in the same mobile home park. We enjoyed many fun activities with both of them here and they were adored by us for their warmth, generosity of time, and their involvement in making this a better place to live.
They are both missed a lot.

I always really enjoyed talking to dave. He was so funny and easy to get along with and I really look forward to any family gatherings where he would be there and I wish I could have spent more time with him. His memory will be cherished and I pray for his children as they move on. His legacy will live on through his children
