Thomas Rooney Obituary
October 1, 1962 - February 27, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved brother, Thomas Francis Rooney, Jr., age 62, on February 27, 2025.
Born on October 1, 1962, in Natick, Massachusetts, Tom grew up in Melrose, where he cultivated his adventurous spirit and love for life. He attended college in Delhi, New York, on a wrestling scholarship before embarking on a dedicated career as an Ironworker. He was a proud member of Local 7 in Boston and later Local 433 in Las Vegas and California.
Tom was best known for his zest for life-he truly lived it his way. In his younger years, he found joy in working out, hitting the beach, skiing, and cruising in a convertible (even if it wasn't always his!). He had an infectious energy, a quick wit, and a huge smile that could light up any room. A true and loyal friend, he will be remembered for his unwavering positivity and warm heart.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Frances Rooney of Wells, Maine. He leaves behind his cherished siblings: Joe and Nancy Rooney, Tricia (Rooney) and Bobby Ziehler, and Maryann (Rooney) and Lewis Fink. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, family members and dear friends who will forever hold his memory close.
A Celebration of Life will be scheduled for 2025 to honor Tom's incredible spirit. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his name to the Humane Society

I hadn´t seen Tom in many years, but hearing of his passing brought back memories and so much sadness. He was truly one of a kind. So witty and so kind. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Sending my condolences to the Rooney Family, I just found out today about Tom's passing. We had a lot of great times back in the days, all through highschool up in the Barn and college, at the beaches, the lakes and I had a 66 Rambler convertible, he loved that car, skiing up Killington always great stories. God Bless you Tom say hi to Sully for me, I'll always have great memories with the gang. I'll see you guys on the other side.
